While humanitarian groups and religious charities across the country are urging the U.S. to open its arms to refugees fleeing the bloody conflicts in Syria and Iraq, a number of bloggers and political pundits are beating the drums of intolerance, using conspiracy theories and anti-Muslim rhetoric to mobilize the American public against accepting migrants escaping war.
Several of the leading voices in this effort are sponsored by Robert Shillman, a wealthy donor to conservative causes who lives in Rancho Santa Fe, a suburb of San Diego.
Shillman, who did not respond to a request for comment, is the founder and chairman of Cognex Corp., a company that produces manufacturing technology.
Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at FrontPage Magazine, has argued that the only “genuine refugees” are “Christian and non-Muslim” and that the U.S. should not accept any Muslims from the conflict in Syria because those fleeing the region “are not victims, they are perpetrators.”
Greenfield, who has published over a dozen articles this year about the dangers of Syrian refugees, explained on an Internet news program in September that the Obama administration is “really eager to find new undocumented Democratic voters anywhere it can” and that religious charity groups assisting Syrian refugees are simply out to make money from the crisis. “If you’re a 90-year-old Haitian who is HIV-positive, they will roll out the red carpet for you,” Greenfield claimed, as he explained the Obama administration’s approach to immigration.
Raymond Ibrahim, another Shillman Fellow at FrontPage, has argued that Western nations “should only accept Christian refugees” because Muslim refugees are merely escaping “chaos created by the violent and supremacist teachings of their own religion, Islam.”
Shillman is also a donor to ACT! for America, a group led by Brigitte Gabriel. In a recent appearance on Newsmax TV, Gabriel said her grassroots network is working to prevent the settlement of Syrian refugees in America.
“They are coming to your neighborhood,” she said. “They are coming to your state, you need to know who’s coming and how many of them are coming and whether you can stop it.” Speaking at the Value Voters summit in Washington D.C. last month, Gabriel declared, “We are trying very hard to stop Syrian refugees from coming to our country.”
The U.S. government has pledged to increase the number of refugees allowed into the country, with the Obama administration promising to accept at least 10,000 Syrian refugees through 2017.
Shillman Journalism Fellow articles about the dangers of accepting Syrian refugees have gone viral over the last two months, with versions reposted on conservative blogs and news hubs. Fear of Syrian migrants has fueled anger in small towns that fear they will become hosts for Islamic terrorists. Residents in cities such as Spartanburg, South Carolina, and St. Cloud, Minnesota, have organized opposition to the possibility of refugee resettlement efforts.
Asked earlier this year by Reuters about his support for David Horowitz and Pamella Geller, two well-known anti-Muslim activists, Shillman explained that he is not anti-Muslim, but rather simply more outspoken than most business leaders. “Most CEOs are hired guns and their future depends on what their boards think of them. I don’t give a fuck,” he said.
Later this month, the Center for Security Policy, one of the most prominent anti-Muslim groups in America, intends to bestow Shillman with its 2015 Freedom Fighter Award.
The growing anti-refugee backlash has been embraced by several GOP presidential candidates and senior Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., the chairman of the Homeland Security subcommittee that oversees terrorist threats, said he opposed the Obama administration decision to admit at least 10,000 Syrian refugees, claiming the move will “put American lives at risk” because doing so would invite “another Boston Marathon Bombing.” Ben Carson, now a front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, has warned against Syrian refugees, claiming that “bringing in people from the Middle East right now carries extra danger.”
Rep. Brian Babin, R-Texas, a freshman lawmaker, sponsored a bill in July to place a hold on the refugee resettlement program until a cost analysis is conducted by the Government Accountability Office. The bill initially had no co-sponsors until September, when the legislation began steadily gaining support. The bill now has 19 co-sponsors, including Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

El Cajon, with a population of about 100,000, has about 40,000 Chaldeans and other Arabs in and around it. Just when does America fulfill it’s “fair share” of refugees? If you saturate one culture with another culture, you dilute the original culture’s values and aspirations. Unless your intent is to destroy the American culture, refugees must be limited.
Amerkins are a crazy people. Stomp other countries all over the globe for corporate profits, then cry like little beaches when there’s some blow-back.
~
Uh, isn’t that sort of like saying if your dog gets rabies, you should shoot all dogs? What kind of ‘free world’ is it you live in if you’re just as desiring of putting people in brackets without knowing a damned thing about them? I’m not saying all (or maybe most) Americans are awesome but I’d say it’s really closed-minded to basically advocate punishing anyone and everyone for something someone’s government did (especially when some of those people are grossly disapproving of said acts — and the acts of some other Americans). Just saying. Grow some ethics. Yeah, America proper has no right to be stomping other countries all over the globe. But if you think there’s any chance of stopping it by stomping on Americans at this stage you may have not realized that they’re the only ones that really have any say in the matter (even if they often fail). Well, unless you know something I don’t. Better to educate, if possible, and defund the machine that makes any of that possible.
Especially since most other countries are basically going along (probably by force or pressure, but still — things got to where they got for a reason; my guess is somewhere along the line other people got greedy too).
So do you have a problem with expats who left because they had issues with American politics too? Or people who live in the US who try to live off the grid because they disagree with what’s going on? Or people who protest what you’re talking about that live there? Or expats who left the US apolitically but not for money? Or just people who live in the US? What’s your real beef? Or is it that you want to be greedy too, in which case aren’t you buying into the same philosophy?
There’s enough in the world for everyone. But the US isn’t the only one complicit in everything — and nor are all Americans.
“Raymond Ibrahim, another Shillman Fellow at FrontPage, has argued that Western nations “should only accept Christian refugees” because Muslim refugees are merely escaping “chaos created by the violent and supremacist teachings of their own religion, Islam.”
Does that criticism for Islam include Saudi Arabia in Syria, or just Syrians fleeing war?
“Riyadh’s anger over Vladimir Putin’s intervention was reflected in a statement by 55 leading clerics, including prominent Islamists, urging “true Muslims” to “give all moral, material, political and military” support to the fight against Assad’s army as well as Iranian and Russian forces.
“Russia has created a Frankenstein in the region which it will not be able to control,” warned a senior Qatari source. “With the call to jihad things will change. Everyone will go to fight. Even Muslims who sit in bars. There are 1.5 billion Muslims. Imagine what will happen if 1% of them join.”
RUSSIA has created a Frankenstein.
You know Saudi Arabia is pissed when its time to bring out the Muslims who sit in bars.
“Russia will pay price for Syrian airstrikes, says US defence secretary”
Ashton Carter predicts reprisal attacks on Russian soil over Vladimir Putin’s military campaign to prop up Bashar al-Assad’s regime
“Moscow will soon start paying the price for its escalating military intervention in Syria in the form of reprisal attacks and casualties, the US defence secretary has warned, amid signs that Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies are preparing to counter the Russian move.
Isn’t that admitting that Saudi Arabia is going to sponsor terrorist attacks in Russia and then supporting it?
I guess it’s safe to say the war on terrorism is over. We’re good with terrorism now, small footprint and all that.
whoops, I forgot the link

This article is definitive of the intellectual deriliction that has come to characterize The Intercept.
Your reporting should focus on the Syrian refugees comtextualized at the roots: the US goal of regime change and the role of Turkey and its clients in the region.
The Intercept has such a huge hole in front of them that the establishment and “alternative” media scurry away from, like the roaches they are avoiding a rain of Raid.
The whole story of ISIL is, on the surface, laden with so many glaring contradictions.
But labeling folks indignant that they are forced to take refugees that have resulted from US support for terror in Lybia and Syria as stupid racists is such an easy state-approved meme.
The Intercept is being define by what they help cover-up more than bringing compelling information to light.
Russia, Syria, Ukraine–if you had developed these stories in the context of the tectonic geopolitical shifts Greenwald et al would have lives up to their potential and pre-launch hype.
But, having its funding dependent on an tech-oligarch on the same page as the corporate-state, from the beginning, hamstrung any journalism that one could reflect on as being authentic, principled, and courageous.
Sad but true.
I have no problem with barring Muslim refugees from the Middle East, as long as when the time comes, we bar Jews too.
“While humanitarian groups and religious charities across the country are urging the U.S. to open its arms to refugees fleeing the bloody conflicts in Syria and Iraq, a number of bloggers and political pundits are beating the drums of intolerance, using conspiracy theories and anti-Muslim rhetoric to mobilize the American public against accepting migrants escaping war.”
You are begging the question, here. You put forward an assertion that these young, strong men are merely “migrants escaping war.” Prove it. And you are name-calling—another fallacy—where anybody who disagrees are the “intolerant,” whatever that means. These are vague concepts that require sharper focus. If America should have little fear about Muslim military-aged let into our shores, then prove it. If others want to reject Syrians, I haven’t read a single word in this piece about your counterargument—and supporting proof.
You just present your oppositions view and say it’s intolerant. How lazy.
I’m guessing most of you haven’t executed the amazingly simple act of googling “Refugee Riots” and seen exactly what is happening literally everywhere that is accepting refugees (willingly or not).
But by all means, all of you please feel free to offer up your home, and those of your neighbors, and I’ll be happy to be proven wrong. Please show me you are right.
I’m surprised these Jewish men and women named above are with open arms to Christians and full of hate for Muslims. They’ve forgotten what Christians are capable of when it comes to Jews. A short history lesson:
-Already in the 4th and 5th centuries synagogues were burned by Christians. Number of Jews slain unknown.
-In the middle of the fourth century the first synagogue was destroyed on command of bishop Innocentius of Dertona in Northern Italy. The first synagogue known to have been burned down was near the river Euphrat, on command of the bishop of Kallinikon in the year 388.
-Council of Toledo 694: Jews were enslaved, their property confiscated, and their children forcibly baptized.
-The Bishop of Limoges (France) in 1010 had the cities’ Jews, who would not convert to Christianity, expelled or killed.
-First Crusade: Thousands of Jews slaughtered 1096, maybe 12.000 total. Places: Worms 5/18/1096, Mainz 5/27/1096 (1100 persons), Cologne, Neuss, Altenahr, Wevelinghoven, Xanten, Moers, Dortmund, Kerpen, Trier, Metz, Regensburg, Prag and others (All locations Germany except Metz/France, Prag/Czech)
-Second Crusade: 1147. Several hundred Jews were slain in Ham, Sully, Carentan, and Rameru (all locations in France).
-Third Crusade: English Jewish communities sacked 1189/90.
-Fulda/Germany 1235: 34 Jewish men and women slain.
-1257, 1267: Jewish communities of London, Canterbury, Northampton, Lincoln, Cambridge, and others exterminated.
-1290 in Bohemian (Poland) allegedly 10,000 Jews killed.
-1337 Starting in Deggendorf/Germany a Jew-killing craze reaches 51 towns in Bavaria, Austria, Poland.
-1348 All Jews of Basel/Switzerland and Strasbourg/France (two thousand) burned.
-1349 In more than 350 towns in Germany all Jews murdered, mostly burned alive (in this one year more Jews were killed than Christians in 200 years of ancient Roman persecution of Christians).
-1389 In Prag 3,000 Jews were slaughtered.
-1391 Seville’s Jews killed (Archbishop Martinez leading). 4,000 were slain, 25,000 sold as slaves. Their identification was made easy by the brightly colored “badges of shame” that all jews above the age of ten had been forced to wear.
-1492: In the year Columbus set sail to conquer a New World, more than 150,000 Jews were expelled from Spain, many died on their way: 6/30/1492.
-1648 Chmielnitzki massacres: In Poland about 200,000 Jews were slain.
I still have more than 350 years of history that reads the same…this goes on and on, century after century, right into the kilns of Auschwitz and the dozens of other camps guarded by Christians.
“A gunman identified by authorities as Christopher Sean Harper-Mercer shot and killed eight fellow students and teacher at Umpqua Community College.”
“Dylann Storm Roof faces nine counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder for an attack that killed nine people at a historic black church in Charleston, S.C.”
“Elliot Rodger, 22, meticulously planned his deadly attack on the Isla Vista community for more than a year, spending thousands of dollars in order to arm and train himself to kill as many people as possible” (6 dead, 7 wounded).
“Aaron Alexis, a Navy contractor and former Navy enlisted man, shoots and kills 12 people and engages police in a running firefight through the sprawling Washington Navy Yard.”
“A gunman forces his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. and shoots and kills 20 first graders and six adults. The shooter, Adam Lanza, 20″
“Radcliffe Haughton, a 45-year-old former Marine, walks into the Azana Salon and Spa where his estranged wife works and shoots and kills her and two other women, wounding four others.”
“Andrew Engeldinger, 36, breaks into a sign company’s offices and opens fire, killing the owner and five others.”
“Wade Michael Page fatally shoots six people at a Sikh temple before he is shot by a police officer.”
“James Holmes, 24, is taken into custody in the parking lot outside the Century 16 movie theater after a post-midnight attack in Aurora, Colo.”
And on and on…good Christians?
My hope is the US will turn inward and address the rampant terrorism its citizens perpetrate against each other. Some stats…
“2015 Gun Violence in the US”
Number of Incidents to 09- 30-2015: 41,668!
Number of Deaths to 09-30-2015: 10,499!
Number of Injuries to 09-30-2015: 21,335!
Accidental shootings to 09-30-2015: 1,438…
I wouldn’t worry about the refugees…the evidence proves injuries and deaths from violent gun incidents are more than 3 times the number who perished in the horrific 9/11 incident. However, the violent gun incidents between US citizens isn’t a one time incident, its every year!!!
You are exactly right. I just looked it up, and there is no gun violence in Syria at all. All those citizens without the right or ability to arm themselves are perfectly happy, and are staying right there in their home country, completely content with their lives. They are very fortunate to not have gun laws or registrations (exactly like Hitler conducted), so that they (the citizens) are the only ones left unarmed when the criminals and/or government decide that they are going to do whatever they want!
Just think! If those pesky British puritans would’ve just accepted religious persecution and kept their mouths shut, but no. Someone, had to give them guns and then look what happened. How can we keep the ignorant populace down and subservient so that the government can keep them as unwitting slaves and ensure their inability to rise up against oppression and corruption?
REciter, your argument confuses me, are you saying the more than 10,000 murders by guns in the US are because citizens are protecting themselves from their government? Who armed ISIL? What failed Bush policies in Iraq led to the formation of ISIL? Syrians? Just how is it that the NSA and CIA who spy on every citizen in the USA were not able to detect the build up of 15,000 ISIL fighters as they made their way to Baghdad? Perhaps this phony war on terror is nothing more than a reason to keep your corporate killing machine operating. Why is it you can’t control your government when they spend more than a $trillion on war yet can’t provide decent healthcare for all of its citizens? Your argument is like a bad poker hand, full of bluff but better to fold.
No, No. I just meant that keeping guns from the citizens isn’t the answer to gun violence. I guess we can put it in the context of the refugee problem. What happens when the refugees that are let in, get a hold of guns, but the citizens “can’t” have them?
I do not argue that the situation in the middle east is a creation of a series of “holy crap” that is a result of arming different “supportive” tribes. Also, I definitely agree with needing to control the government, the spending is absolutely crazy, and healthcare is being driven by insurance companies. Again, fully in line with your view on the spying on the people view as well. At this point, how can a government be controlled by it’s people?
I suppose I care more about responsible citizens gun rights, than politics in general.
I agree, responsible citizens gun laws, not rights, are in order, but why do you envision refugees, who are fleeing horrible consistent violence which you and I cannot comprehend, as the ones who will bring violence to your country? I would think the opposite would be true and given what non-refugee citizens in the US do to each other I’d be more concerned about those folks who see the gun as a way to solve problems. Don’t let the MSM and other fanatics paint every refugee as a potential terrorist when so much violence exists between the citizens of the US. I remember a nun who operated a refugee center who said the best way to weed out refugee imposters is to have other refugees determine their validity, not bigots.
I read these posts out of order. I understand your point on these comments. I myself would not view ‘all’ refugees entering a country as the ones to bring violence. I do think, based on news (whether you can believe in news anymore) that many issues of violence seems to be occurring in areas where refugees from this particular struggle are involved. I do think if there were a way (like you say, refugees determining validity) to help people in genuine need of help, that it should be given.
I also don’t think the U.S. is the wild west of citizen to citizen violence. There are plenty of areas in that country where there is relatively no gun violence. It’s hard with such a large country to view it in its entirety given the point of view that citizens are shooting each other everywhere. To reference your own statistics: Number of incidents ~ 41,668. Population of US (2014): 318.9 million. Percentage: 0.000131031
Just a few more facts: In Canada, which has more guns in the household per capita that the US, the degree of violence with handguns doesn’t even measure a blip against the onslaught in the US. The way Canada and other democracies deal with bad government is at the ballot box not at the end of a gun barrel. You’re not the only country with a history of violence and war, not by a long shot, but most of the developed countries with your type of history have moved on. Their economy has not been bankrupted by your continual violent war with others. They have learned from history. Fortunately most US citizens have moved on now they need to make their government do the same and not at the end of a gun barrel.
True, but I would say that most feel that the ballot box isn’t working, and that at best they are playing darts in a pub.
I think that their gun control issue is separate from the warring attitude of their Government. I agree with your assessment of Canada and guns in the household per capita, I think the U.S. citizens should be allowed to match that, obviously in the case of Canada, it is not the number of armed citizens that causes gun violence.
It is easy to go too far into dangerously discriminatory territory, but we do have to remember that one kind of diversity can displace another. For example, there is a certain Weis Markets I would occasionally stop at, because it was the one supermarket in the area that had a certain cheap, tasty type of lamb – a VERY rare exception to the iron law that Americans can only eat beef, pork, or something non-mammalian. Now, that Weis Markets doesn’t sell lamb any more – you go in and at the spot on the rack where they used to, you can buy some kind of halal chicken. I mean, diversity is great, but the way I see it, my diversity is DOWN in this case. And I have a hard time thinking of that as a parochial attitude – isn’t mixing some lamb into your diet innately more diverse than having somebody slice the throat of a cow in a certain special way?
Now, yeah, I know – that’s the market. You go out there and if your view isn’t popular, you lose. But I gotta ask – with so many Muslims out there promoting their kind of diversity in political decision making – like letting in more immigrants from entirely Muslim countries – does anyone else get to push back and say wait a minute, we want our side to be represented too?
Letting people into the country isn’t the status quo for everyone. It’s a political plum, handed out to some, denied to others. And if people aren’t willing to occasionally speak up for what they want, they wll get what somebody else wants.
Funny, but most of the ‘Indian’ restaurants I’ve been to, usually actually run by Pakistanis or other Muslims, serve lamb, no pork, and, often, no beef.
But, seriously, the greatest disaster imposed on the people of North America by refugees and other migrants was the European invasion that began in the early 1500’s. If only that could be undone!
“one kind of diversity can displace another” huh?
Well, for another example, you can ask the Jews in Malmo … if you can find them, that is.
What evidence do you have to make such statements?
Shillman Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi are different sides of the same coin.
Both just verify that after greed, religion is the worst plague that hounds the human race.
Lee Fang says… “a number of bloggers and political pundits are beating the drums of intolerance, using conspiracy theories and anti-Muslim rhetoric to mobilize the American public against accepting migrants escaping war.”
Wow… with passionate writing like this, I would anticipate Fang being first in line to help house, feed, and clothe these unfortunate refugees. Move them right into your neighborhood Fang. Observe how well they integrate with you and your neighbors. As you will learn, they tend to prefer their own company.
They prefer their women to cover up and obey. They are prodigious breeders – and LOVE free handouts… you know, the dole, welfare. They will build a mosque. And as their numbers grow, they will become a political force in your community.
They will isolate themselves because they feel they are genuinely superior to you and your neighbors. After all, Fang, you are an unbeliever and behind closed doors they will always call you such – you are a Kafir. Of course, when their doors are open, they will smile at you and pretend to be your brother, they will openly lie to you because the Qur’an says they can… In fact they have a whole system in place that teaches the art of deceit and lying.
Eventually, they will appoint a Caliph. Their new religious leader will demand that his people be judged under Sharia Law. In our new atmosphere of political correctness (ignorance), we will most likely allow this adoption of Sharia Law. If the muslim believers commit crimes in your neighborhood, they will be protected by their Sharia Law. This scenario is beginning to unfold in England now, and it will happen in Sweden, Germany, Austria and all of Europe. Do you understand, Fang, that migration is an aspect of Jihad? Did you know that certain actions are tolerated and protected under sharia law, such as rape of underage children, wife beating, battery and assault?
Eventually the mosque will install loudspeakers outside the building, and 5x a day you and your neighbors will be subjected to the screeching oratory brilliance of their leader sharing HIS wisdom and deep faith in Allah. Allah Akbar! God is Great!
Did you know, Fang, that Islam is more accurately described as a political cult, than a religion? Have you done ANY research on the nature of Islam? Did you know there is another book of sacred texts, other than the Qur’an, that the believers follow? It is known as – The Hadith – the hadith are the traditions of deeds and words attributed to the Prophet Muhammad which, after the Qur’an, provide the basis of Islamic Law… references below. Educate yourself, Fang… read some of the Hadith texts for a good laugh.

reminds me of the religious bigotry that Nazis spewed out about the Jews. The eternal sadness built in to the human race is the extreme fear you feel for something you don’t understand that allows to accept such a hateful view of a group of people who will never do anything to you.
Your comment is easy to create, but with NO substance backing it up. This is a typical uneducated perspective.
I do understand – I wouldn’t bother writing any of this down if I didn’t understand what I was writing about.
Regarding Islam it has been estimated, from a historical perspective dating back 1400 years, that the Religion of Islam is responsible for 270 million + deaths. Why we are Afraid – https://youtu.be/t_Qpy0mXg8Y
If you had the courage to dig deeper into the truth of history (true history – not the false narrative you imply) you will find it requires more thoughtful expression. In other words, back up what you say with evidence and references.
Bigotry of the Nazis, for example. I could say this same bigotry could be applied to the Jewish (zionest) believers and their hatred for the Russian people prior to the second world war. IF you studied their history as I have, you would come to the same conclusion that these violent Zionest Jews, which is now the adopted ideology of the state of Israel at this time, were responsible for intense bloodshed in Russia – aka the Bolshevik Jews – to the tune of 20 million plus dead. Yes, they generated extreme fear at that time and were extremely racist. The Germans new this and took decisive action but failed. It was a complicated story, and it requires deep research to understand.
It is well known, the victors of any battle control the narrative. The story of Germany’s role in wwII was not accurate by any means. Fortunately there is a lot of evidence surfacing via the revisionist movement from the likes of Mark Weber at IHR.org and other groups.

I would add this footnote…
I have deep respect for the Syrian / Iranian peoples. Their roots run deep… as they were source and setting for the genuine aryan race; arya is sanskrit for honorable, respectable and noble . They were a beautiful race of people, sophisticated and elegant. They were masters of architecture, music and dance – a fine example of human potential.
Unfortunately, times have changed, and the crude medieval construct of the Cult of Islam overwhelmed their lands… the migrations we are witnessing now are not true Syrians. Far from it!
These migrating people are largely a mix of Islamic followers coming from all over the Mediterranean, Africa, Turkey etc… They are migrating under the guise of Syrians…
Check out Syrian Girl for deeper perspective.

Shillman, Ibrahim, Geller, Greenfield should study how hate, division and fear caused 6 million Jews to lose their lives with the same kind of hostility they spew. Gabriel or whoever she is calling herself these days is apparently Lebanese. Her Lebanese name is Hanan Qahwaji but she is sometimes known as Nour Semaan, Rachael Cohen, “Dark Angel” and more recently, Brigitte Gabriel. She should really be investigated. Anyone changing their names so many times has something to hide or is in need of medical help.
¨They will isolate themselves because they feel they are genuinely superior to you and your neighbors.¨
Sounds like a lot of the Jews I, an ex-Jew, grew up with, and I have little doubt that Robert Shillman is of that kind.
I can’t argue your point because Judaism and Islam are connected at the roots… the Muslim believers were told to follow the path of Abraham. The Abrahamic teachings are the source of the problem… the cause of insanity of both of these religions… Abraham is a virus that infects the mind.
Russell Webb crucially you have omitted to produce evidence to inform us of how you can predict Lee Fang’s experience of living in such an alternate universe?
I note the youve have devoted much time to the demotion of Islam which is interpreted in so many different ways by the world’s muslims..why should we velieve you?
Thirdly you fail to mention the brutal consequences that disaster capitalism has visited upon the subjects and even proponents of neoliberalism i.e the industrial military complex.
It has been most convenient for corporate interests that the US has remained in a perpetual state of war for half a century…glaringly obvious yet you fail to explore in any substantive way…why? What do YOU have to lose?
The excuse given for 9/11 and for why people are still fighting us in the Middle East or why we’re not successful is Islam. The other reason is that we’re fighting hard enough.
The people the military are supposed to be helping in the Middle East are called moderates – short for moderate Muslim or less of a Muslim. The people fighting us are extremists, more of a Muslim. And now we’re going to accept some Muslim refugees peacefully?
We aren’t fighting in the Middle East because of a religion or for one but the government and media doesn’t seem to mind if many Americans believe we are or think we should be – especially those who had a lot to gain by changing the winning the hearts and minds of Muslims schtick while Bush was president to spreading the nonsense that Obama was a secret Muslim.
Another example of Zionists working to undermine the world, and taking down America in the process. America, at the behest of Israel, destabilize a Muslim country, then we have the inevitable refugees that move to Europe to destabilize them…
Yea really the Europeans should accept the refugees, they shouldn’t be allowed to come to America.
Because after all it was the European CIA who destabilized the region.
Oh wait…
To Israels benefit and Americas demise.(CIA destabilization)
Are these mentioned cruds all Jews?It sure seems like it,a collection of haters which make Hitler look like a choirboy.
Actually, by far most refugees have relocated to countries in the region: Jordan, Turkey, Iraq & Lebanon. To the point where e.g. Jordan currently hosts as many refugees (mostly Palestinians & Syrians) as it has native citizens. Maybe the US can start to complain when they host 25 million refugees, which would be relatively less than 10% compared to Jordan. ;-)
And of course several European countries aren’t entirely blameless about the current situation either; especially some of those who now most vehemently oppose refugees, like the UK…
Unless you are an American Indian you really don’t have much of an argument against refugees and immigrants. Your ancestors were either refugees or immigrants that came to this continent.
The level of disinformation and distraction from this group is amusing. The same actors have created several different organizations in order to pretend they have a great deal of followers. What they don’t want the taxpayers of the US to know is this:
“Since 1949 the U.S. has given Israel a total of $83.205 billion. The interest costs borne by U.S. tax payers on behalf of Israel are $49.937 billion, thus making the total amount of aid given to Israel since 1949 $133.132 billion. This may mean that U.S. government has given more federal aid to the average Israeli citizen in a given year than it has given to the average American citizen.”
Did you really not understand that was sarcasm?
The “Oh wait…” should have been a give away.
I’m sorry, but Shillman is making some sense here. If we had an anarchist utopia where we put up some big statue inviting the wretched refuse of every foreign shore to come here, and meant it, that would be one thing. But if people are going to be prohibited from entering our country, why should they be Hungarians or Poles? rather than residents of a country that we know is famous for some very bad ideas, a poor understanding of democracy, and yes, the most fanatically stupid organization on Earth that has promised to get people into our country to cut our heads off for criticizing their moronic and corrupt religion!
Oh, to be sure, we have responsibilities.
Under the fantastically stupid international law of amnesty, we have to allow anyone who can pay off a gang to smuggle them onto our soil to remain, if they are in danger at home; but a feature of that stupid system is that if they don’t have the money to pay the smuggler, we don’t have to worry about what happens to them. Which means, we have few Syrians in that position. Even if a “Ship Of The Damned” turns up off shore, we can still turn it away.
And then there is the moral responsibility; we don’t really want to see these people massacred by any of the fine leaders their country has produced, of which there are so many.
But there is NO RELATION between the international law responsibility and the moral responsibility. If we can arrange for Guyana to rent us Jim Jones’ old hotel, we could shove them there. Hey, it’s better than dying, right? And it’s real hard for them to slit our throats from Guyana. More to the point, we should find a way to make a deal with some Muslim country to transfer as many Islamic refugees as possible somewhere away from here where they would have more in common with the local residents. In the case of those already granted asylum, that would have to be voluntary, but so? Wave some money at them, sell them on the merits of living in a country that enforces the tenets of their glorious religion.
It’s cheaper than wiring the whole country for NSA, less appalling to the civil libertarian than the ham-handed efforts to keep Terry Jones from burning another thousand Korans. They’re not our citizens; they are from a country under embargo; there is a military conflict of some sort going on – it’s not really that much to ask that we not invite our enemies to come live among us under the protections of our laws.
Are you for real, sound like a hasbara troll to me…”we have responsibilities, really you think. You mean like we are the ones, at the behest of zionist filth like Shillman, who have destabilized that region i the first place. America is not only responsible but is criminally so. America had no “enemies” in the Middle East before Israel was “created”. Syria is NOT our enemy, Israel IS, and its treasonous millionaires who live within America’s borders.
How much responsibility do we really have? Alright, maybe the CIA had some people try to stir up trouble for Assad – who by all accounts is a brutal dictator. Do we have a moral obligation to leave dictators alone? No. It might have been pragmatic, even smart, to leave him alone, but the U.S. can’t be blamed for every war it INDIRECTLY causes. It has enough crimes on the docket against it based on terrorists it has actually backed; no need to exaggerate the case. Stirring Assad’s anthill was culpable incompetence, but not criminal evil.
The situation with Israel is definitely confusing, but not as bad as you make it out to be. The Jews themselves returned, relations broke down, and when fighting came they did embarrassingly well. That was before the whole notion of never shifting a border by combat really caught on, so it wasn’t a violation of international norms. If the Palestinians remain stuck as refugees, that has a lot to do with UNRWA’s approach being different for Palestinians than the approach taken for every other refugee on the planet. Also something to do with Jordan turning its back on Transjordan. Now were a lot of innocent people screwed by “right” of conquest? Absolutely. But it’s not like the other side intended any better for Israel. So it’s not fair to treat the U.S. as all terribly wrong on this – the key is how to go forward.
Yet in reality, the way to go forward probably is going to be harsher than what most people suggest. There is never going to be a one state solution because the Jews won’t want to be under a majority Palestinian government, and they have the nukes to say no. There’s no two state solution because every time one kid anywhere throws a rock, the Israelis will ride roughshod over any trace of Palestinian authority, and in any case, they’ll never tolerate Palestine setting its own immigration policy and letting everyone back in from abroad. There’s no “Indian reservation” solution, even though Israel seems to believe in it, because the Palestinians don’t shrink in numbers and fade away, but keep getting more numerous, and the Israelis don’t have the leeway to do Andrew Jackson measures to change that. So what we’re looking at, basically, is a matter of hemming and hawwing and temporizing before, eventually, things come to a clear standoff, one in which (barring a remarkable reversal of fortune) the Palestinians will all be driven out of the country. The question is, can the Israelis make that semi-peaceful, a sort of national-scale exercise of eminent domain where people are fairly compensated and leave under peaceful terms, having negotiated with other states to accept the displaced Palestinians? Or does the conflict go to its final, hideous conclusion?
Saudi Arabia, a “friendly” country to the US. Cuddled up to both Democrats and Republicans. Yet no one of these characters listed in the article will face reality. ISIL is not the only group beheading check out the beheading stats for Saudi Arabia. We don’t see this every night on the news do we? We don’t hear calls for regime change in Saudi Arabia do we? We haven’t sent bombers and secret ground troops to assassinate the Saud King and his clan have we? Saudi Arabia beheadings 2014: 175! Saudi Arabia beheadings as of June 2015: 100! Saudi Arabia on track to beat their 2014 record beheadings. Criticize the Saud kingdom lose your head! More than 1 beheading every second day.
You violate their space, they violate your space. There is no conspiracy in this. It is Karma.
Well put
What surprising me to no end is the Vietnamese refrained from this when we did far worse things there.
Because it is the only war where the United States of America (Imperial America) lost. Hep hep hooray for Vietnam!!!
Amazingly ignorant this man / and his fellow believers must be. The US demographic composition is based on ethical cleansing and immigration. If this man is now thinking that the US society cannot integrate not even 0.0035% of its population, he is doubting the strength of the US-American culture, the efficiency of the US integration policies, the historic heir of the country’s demographic strength and the sustainable benefit the US could gain in the origin country. Not to speak of the moral capital the US could gain. A currency nearly all Western countries are strongly lacking of. This would turn this ‘Freedom Fighter Award’ nominee into something he definitely claims not to be: unamerican.
I am sure he is open to immigration, just not Muslim immigration. Zionists are all about opening America’s borders to slaves from the south, who will care far more about just scratching out a living, than they will America’s exploits in the Middle East.
Tell Dan Greenfield that the Canadian government has first dibs on all those Christians and non-muslims. It’s been the official policy of the Conservatives since 2011.
Ever notice that the people that disagree with anything controversial are the ones that want everyone else to take care of the problem. If people want Syrian refugees h in the US, then volunteer to house, feed and take care of them. Any takers?
A non Christian attitude and statement.
alabamanative must have hit really close to home!
WRONG, morals are not based on one’s ability to participate in the just act. America IS a democracy and everyone’s has the right to their opinion you fascist #%@*!. I am sure very few Americans would be for the secrete activities of our government at the behest of zionist filth like Shillman, actions that cause the refugee problem in the first place. You break it you own it. You don’t like taking responsibility, get the fuck out of the Middle East. We are NOT Israel, we have morals, we care about our fellow man, and above all else we take responsibility for our actions. Now just get the zionists out of Washington and we can get on with being a moral nation, again.
Israel was founded and has developed very much in the ‘American’ tradition of settler colonialism and genocide. The Israelis just have the misfortune of having to do much of their dirty work at a time when it’s much easier for victims and observers to document and publicize their crimes.
I don’t think people like Shillman know that they are going to be judged by EVEN THEIR GOD on the construct of lies which they intentionally endorse. Da’esh is supported by Israel. Avi Dichter, former head of Shin Bet = Israel’s NSA said so. Israel is supported by US. US intentionally does not fight Da’esh. Avi Dichter also said that he appreciates the destabilization of countries around Israel. Destabilization = war, hence, there are refugees. So, how about holding responsible the perpetrators? –> US has to pick up Millions of refugees.
I have a excellent solution:
Let’s all cooperate and bring the Syrian people back home.
The Yezidi can return to their beloved shrine.
The Aramaic speaking Christians can celebrate Easter as they’ve been doing for 2000 years.
The people of Syria and Iraq can return to their beautiful springtime in Mosul. The archaeological treasures will be found and returned. Thieves will be brought to trial.
Volunteers from all over the world will flock to help restore and improve the countries with love and ideas.
The public sanitation will be up to code.
That’s what I want.
Anybody who doesn’t want this? Raise your hand! And tell why with your hand on the Bible/Koran/stock portfolio…whatever you hold sacred.
We can show the world what America can do best. We can use those surplus Caterpillar heavy equipment bulldozers to clean the mess and rebuild the shrines, the homes, the schools, and the roads for them all to come home.
Bravo excellent idea
You would think Shillman would put his money toward ideas like this. Anyone with money to burn should. Bill Gates, King Whatever from Saudi, and anyone who makes the Forbes Richest People list should put those extra funds (and let’s face it, anything over a couple million dollars truly is extra) to work for the good of mankind.
Kudos Deanna!
“We can show the world what America can do best.”
Beat, taze throw them in jail and kill people?
The America that rebuilds doesn’t exist anymore. The only America these days is the America that destroys.
C’mon,Zion, the master doesn’t want it.It is a clear as day, they are the instigators and drivers of the whole WOT,the most uncivilized assault on decency since the Crusades.
Lovely. I wonder why this would even matter to him. It’s not like they would be interned anywhere near Rancho Santa Fe.
Just replace Muslims with Jews and it becomes clearer to see just how nasty and terrifying this kind of hate-speech, yes, hate speech is.
As for extremists they are nasty in all religions. There is definitely a very strident and fundamental christian following here who would just love to control everyone’s lives and dictate how they live right down to the most personal and intimate. An inquisition advance-guard if you will. Some have even bombed clinics and murdered people!
But, it’s always been a wonder to me how such undeveloped human minds can reach such positions of power that they can spread and inculcate their undeveloped, narrow minded mindset in the population at large. Surely that makes a case for a stellar, solid education for all, with critical thought as bedrock, so we don’t all slide back to the dark ages and the bloody crusades like these proponents of prejudice and hate seem to have done.
Great article but the headline’s misplaced modifiers are confusing.
Evangelical Christians will be just as bad as Muslim extremists when the next Depression — depression and not recession — hits and causes mass unemployment and wealth loss and anger.
And if history is any example, it will be Jews rather than Muslims that will be blamed and, as in the past, attacked, ostracized, and beaten.
Don’t forget, severe depressions as periodic events in the business cycle that has never failed, no matter what.
If history is any example … hasbara much?
I mean, there is no way the Jews are responsible for anything other than acceptance and tolerance …
“And if history is any example, it will be Jews rather than Muslims that will be blamed and, as in the past, attacked, ostracized, and beaten.”
in the years following the holocaust it was impossible — the height of political incorrectness — to ask the question: “Did the Jews deserve it? Did they bring it on themselves?” Today, in light of brazen Zionist/Israeli crimes it is no longer impossible. Now we can ask: “Why did the Egyptians kick out the Jews? Why did the Romans terminate ancient Israel and kill every Jew who did not flee? Why did Spain and Portugal present their Jews with an ultimatum: Convert or die? Why did Europe sanction the Jews relentlessly, and the Nazis finally decide to exterminate them “root and branch”? Do we see a pattern here? And does their modern behavior suggest the answer to these questions, an explanation for the historic “persecution”?
It is trivially self-evident, but not to be spoken: The Jews — the wealthy and powerful elite mostly — have behaved badly across the millennia and repeatedly provoked “blowback”. Now they’re at it again, in full view of the entire world. Do they really not see where this leads? Do they really not see the rest of the world turning against them?
The Jews are amazing folks. When they’re great, they’re over-the-top great. When they’re stupid, they’re catastrophically stupid. Even as we speak they are building their next holocaust. Astonishing!
Full disclosure: I’m an American and a Jew,
The Jews left a notable written record that has kept people obsessed with their doings, and certainly they got the sharp end of the screw last century. But the bottom line is that if all the Jews in the world were in Israel, it would be a reasonably densely populated country. As an ethnicity, they have done about as well as the others over time. No history of steady annihilation, no history of world domination, just one country among many getting warred on and kicked around and exterminated like the others, and on occasion committing its own wars of aggression as morally reprehensible as those of other races as well. So while of course every thinking person holds up the Holocaust as a prime example of evil, we shouldn’t fall into the trap of thinking that there’s something fundamentally different about the Jews in the long term, or intrinsically.
