The Clinton campaign is “pleased” that an FBI investigation concluded that she and her aides “were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.”
When Hillary Clinton first acknowledged in March 2015 that she had indeed used a private email account — and her own server — to conduct official government business as secretary of state, it would have been hard to imagine that her campaign would 16 months later pronounce itself “pleased” that an FBI investigation concluded that she and her aides “were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.”
But that is precisely what happened on Tuesday, after FBI Director James Comey announced that the bureau had recommended to prosecutors at the Department of Justice “that no charges are appropriate in this case,” despite finding that 110 of Clinton’s emails did “contain classified information at the time they were sent or received.”
Of course, it was not the criticism that Clinton’s campaign was pleased about — or the fact that Comey presented evidence that the candidate’s repeated claim that she “never sent nor received any information that was classified at the time that it was sent and received” was demonstrably false.
Here, for the record, is Clinton saying, on March 10, 2015, “I did not email any classified material to anyone on my email.”
Four months later, that talking point was revised slightly, as Clinton began to say that she was “confident” that none of the 30,000 emails she turned over to the State Department contained classified information.
More recently, Clinton has been using a more carefully worded version, telling reporters and voters that “nothing I sent was marked ‘classified,’ or that I received was marked ‘classified.’”
In his summary of the FBI investigation, Comey said that the “110 emails in 52 email chains” that contained classified information at the time they were sent or received included “a very small number” that also “bore markings indicating the presence of classified information.”
By ignoring the damning information uncovered by the FBI — that Clinton’s elaborate system for avoiding the requirement that public servants should make their official correspondence available in public archives had exposed dozens of messages containing secret information to potential interception — the candidate clearly hoped to put the matter behind her.
While that satisfied many of her supporters — and predictably angered most of her detractors — treating the FBI director’s conclusion of “not criminal” as a seal of approval seemed to leave many Americans feeling queasy, and others wondering if the laws on mishandling classified information just do not apply to those in power.

Similar Q has come up with other members of the family.

The response to the news on social networks divided along partisan lines to such an extent that it seemed like further evidence that those who love and hate Clinton might just as well live in parallel universes.
After months of treating the idea that Hillary Clinton would be indicted and hence “not allowed to run” as an article of faith, Republicans were stunned to hear the FBI director — who was appointed Deputy Attorney General by George W. Bush and had donated money to both John McCain and Mitt Romney — recommend that she should not face charges.

The system is rigged. General Petraeus got in trouble for far less. Very very unfair! As usual, bad judgment.

I'm just impressed he spelled Petraeus correctly. Now someone ask Trump what Petraeus did. He has no clue https://t.co/agllUB3tsa

So the FBI cleared her as a warm-up act to today’s Obama/Clinton rally. Unfuckingbelievable.

And after more than a year of casting her use of a private email server as a minor issue, Democrats who support Clinton ignored the parts of Comey’s statement that were unflattering to her and celebrated what they called the unmasking of a “pseudo-scandal.”
nobody could have predicted yet another right wing pseudo scandal would fizzle, unless you've paid attn to politics for the last 20 yrs

None of this is surprising whatsoever. This IS the two-party system in 2016. I will be angry if Bernie endorses Hillary as all the media is telling us he is on the verge of doing. This is the media in 2016 as well; they have been running the endorsement story for 6 months.
The movement is based on the teachings of MLK and many who preceded and followed him. It is very obviously getting stronger and stronger. No matter what the establishment, Elizabeth Warren or Obama says or does, Hillary’s popularity continues to fall. Neither It is not about what Bernie does or says. The movement is too organic and too vital to be stopped.
Disappointed that Clinton has yet again escaped judicial scrutiny then exercise your 1st amendment right to petition the gov’t for redress of greivances. Sign and share the linked petition.

Anyone know if a grievance has ever been redressed? The lingo on that is so archaic that I’m not even sure what it means, but I sure haven’t seen it done… if so, maybe we’d have far fewer Hillarys and Donalds.
Nobody has asked the obvious.
When was Hillary’s security clearance suspended? That is the standard procedure for mishandling of classified information. If her clearance wasn’t suspended somebody should be fired.
Is the revocation of Hillary’s security clearance permanent? I know people who had their clearances revoked, and there was no going back. Based on the facts disclosed an administrative finding and investigation has already been completed.
Can you be President of the United States, and be bared from holding a security clearance?
I write this as one with an addictive mentality/personality; I’m obsessed with industrial hemp and its peaceful and potentially eco-economic magic properties. I admit my addiction in empathy with people like my dear friends and family who, after the publication and film production of a credible raft of medical scientific data concluding that football leads to serious brain damage, continue to watch and are thus complicit in bruteball industry. Similarly, I suspect many of the same concussion supporters from the same Dorito-dusted sofas continue to root for Hillary Clinton perhaps even after, like football, recognizing her connections to the same institutions that flash-for-football on the same transformative screen: financial outfits, energy (i.e. fossil fuel spewers), The Big Three (do they still exist?), and all those other folks who lobbied to keep the Democratic machine running.
And I don’t think it’s a stretch to compare to football the very recent arguably illegal but certainly self-serving declaration by the FBI Director that there will be no charges brought against Clinton for her use of personal email to conduct classified government business; I think anyone with viable brain matter will have to consider if not conclude that continuing to support Clinton’s presidency is equivalent to sitting Sunday after Sunday/Monday/Thursday in front of the Big Screen. Bruteball maims and sometimes kills its warriors. The “game” of Democratic Party/Washington Insider politics kills all of us through perpetuation of a system brought to us by the those corporate sponsors the Bernie campaign has repeatedly associated with the Clinton candidacy not to mention biography.
I have another obsession: that of eternally wishing that my lovely friends and family will see Mr. Toad director of the FBI and the salamander currently in the White House as no different from those who run the NFL.
Simply put, continuing to rationalize support of Clinton and the oligarchic three ring circus that surrounds her, is no different from numbly standing behind “our” national concussion-producing pastime.
Would you expect any less?.? supported by the banks and Wall Street…..and the New Yorks Times endorsing her for media coverage ………OUR MOTTO USED TO BE “TRUTH – JUSTICE – the AMERICAN WAY……….NOW ITS DIRTY POLITICS DAILY AND JUSTICE IS BLINDFOLDED… the public is deaf – dumb – and stupid…….re-electing politicians for life…..
When are the American people going to get sick of the lesser of two evils????
The American people’s opinion doesn’t count for much.
Is America an oligarchy?
Well, except at the local level. It’s somewhat harder for the Bosses to bulldoze their policies at the Town Council or Planning Board against the will of organized citizens.
Benedict Arnold was also ‘extremely careless’?
When you look at how Hillary Clinton operated at the State Department, it becomes rather obvious why she wanted a private email server that could avoid the Presidential Records Act rules on preserving communications. For example:
http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/times-watchdog/as-hillary-clinton-bolstered-boeing-company-returned-the-favor/
Probably a violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other statues, but will James Comey, ex-general counsel for Lockheed Martin (who paid him $6 million in salary) be investigating these schemes? Hardly.
I don’t see how anyone can support Hillary Clinton, given her penchant for foreign military intervention and regime change on one hand, and her shady backdoor profiteering deals on the other. She comes across as a Bush-era neocon on foreign policy issues, and her claims about her ‘liberal’ domestic agenda are impossible to believe.
your observation of Hilary’s penchant for shenanigans is why the only people who count support her, the established donors.
“avoiding the requirement that public servants should make their official correspondence available in public archives”
is a strange way to say this.
is it a requirement or a recommendation?
if a requirement, then public servants “shall make…available” or simply “the requirement that public servants make…available.”
“extremely careless” is a flat out lie.
Hillary deliberately circumvented the normal process in a calculated political decision that was CAREFULLY considered and executed.
Clinton or Trump?
None of the above.
Why are so few people talking about the President of the United States, and what his role might be in this whole mess? He was Hillary’s boss, right? Was he careless too? Wasn’t there any oversight? Surely he knew about her fundraising while on the job as SoS. A great deal is missing in the current conversation.
is anyone surprised? we all know she’s above the law. what I’m surprised about is that the FBI and the democrats really think the general public will just accept this at face value – “oh, she’s innocent”. give me a break, everyone except for diehard partisan hillary supporters know she’s done something wrong here, how wrong depends on the persons politics.
also, its not just the right wing that thinks she’s guilty. the true left, guided by principles and not party loyalties, thinks she’s guilty too. not to mention the left. her low approval ratings, in a race to the bottom alongside trumps, aren’t from out of nowhere. she’s a snake and most of us can sense it. sadly, many will vote for her out of fear of trump come november, not because they like her.
To illustrate how clueless these demoncrat writers are;It aint just conservatives that hate her,its true liberals, conservatives and even middle of the roaders who hate her.
Will someone please help hillaryous by listing all her accomplishments that can mollify our anger at her being such a poor victim of an obvious scurrilous political attack.
1;she married bent dick.
2;She didn’t divorce bent dick.
3;Server couldn’t find.
An FBI leak yesterday revealed that HiLiary Clinton pleaded the 5th Amendment to every question during her 3.5 hour interrogation on Saturday 7/2/2016. This is what she repeated more than 100 times. “On the advice of counsel I invoke my Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination and respectfully decline to answer your question.”
Link, please.
So… Basically like driving a little bit drunk, but not blackout drunk?
She’s an extremely careless liar – but that’s a cause for celebration. You don’t have to outrun the bear, just outrun the other party’s candidate. She’s the lesser of two extremely careless liars.
Except that she didn’t outrun the bear…the bear got tossed a fish…his career.
The lesser of 2 extremely careless liars? Is that satire or from the heart? Can the heart elucidate on Trumps extreme carelessness?
6 pointed red stars?
I thought it very careful, and extremely accurate, and we care immensely.
Except when the Russian Bear chews on her silly ass.
Hillary Clinton shows she’s above the law by mishandling a couple of classified emails. Trump shows he’s above the law by partying with Jeffrey Epstein in Miami, New York, and aboard the Lolita Express, and allegedly contributing a juicy underage employee at the Mar-a-Lago. ( http://www.dailywire.com/news/5556/7-things-you-need-know-about-trump-and-sex-slave-amanda-prestigiacomo ) The first thing is something most of us do when we get the chance – how many here would honor any silly suggestions to stay off Wikileaks, Cryptome, The Intercept or anyplace else we might read a leak? But the second seems to be the measure of real power, whether in Franklin or Westminster or even at the bacha bazi parties among “fanatic Muslims” in Afghanistan. The thing is, being powerful means owning the press, and owning the press means that almost the only thing we hear is the first case.
Bill Clinton also has a history aboard the Lolita Express.
http://gawker.com/flight-logs-put-clinton-dershowitz-on-pedophile-billio-1681039971
People miss the point in trying to make efforts to distinguish the Clintons from the Trumps. Pictures of the Clintons attending Trump’s latest marriage are really much more revealing of reality – i.e. the things that make them alike – than anything one could ever produce to make them seem different.
Both of them will take this country and the rest of the world to hellish places that will support their own personal bases of power.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Comey was on the Lolita Express once or twice.
He’s either paid off or Slick Willy told Lynch what would be released or what would happen to his family if Hillary was indicted.
$100 million in bribes (that we know of) has been paid in advance; AIPAC is going to make sure they get what they paid for.
Comey, resign!
“By ignoring the damning information uncovered by the FBI — that Clinton’s elaborate system for avoiding the requirement that public servants should make their official correspondence available in public archives had exposed dozens of messages containing secret information to potential interception — the candidate clearly hoped to put the matter behind her.”
Hillary assured the dining public that she washed her hands after handling the emails.
Nothing exemplifies The epitome of TYRANNY in plain view than the puppets of the corrupt establishment pretending to be for democracy when they are subverting it at every turn while keeping the masses entertained rather than informed along with the domestic and foreign lapdogs of the corrupt establishment perpetuating the farse/propaganda/lies/facades/hypocresy. – Alejandro Grace Ararat.
By deception we shall be potus and do war. Disgusting is short.
18 USC 793 f1 says that “gross negligence” is enough for fine and imprisonment. What is the difference between “gross negligence” and “extremely careless”? In which legal lexicon is “extremely careless” found?. I am not a lawyer, and I do not need to be one to see that Comey’s announcement is total bull$itt.
In legalese, gross negligence and extreme carelessness are the same thing. and to top it off, 18 USC 793 has no intent or mens rea requirement, and this puppet comey knows it.
This site has a big problem.
When you want to post a reply to someone’s comment you are forced to enable javascript. Who knows who tracks you once your javascript starts running?
Don’t use Windows, Android, iOS or OSX when visiting sites like this then.
Use AIX, HPUx, Solaris or Linux run from a CD, those are the only really secure alternatives. And make damn sure you have a real hardware firewall, know how to configure it and use IP Tables to filter the shit out of all the traffic.
If you didn’t understand any of that then never mind, just live with no privacy.
If you did and think it’s too much work then the same.
Since Hillary is often referred to as the smartest woman in the world, it would seem she would not have made such a mistake. Or maybe she’s not so smart after all.
that’s a why I say love — oh love —- oh careless love
Yeah, I was thinking along the lines of a repeat Fleetwood Mac choice — BC in 92 was “Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow” while HC in 2016 could do “Tell Me Lies”…..
but I think Ray Charles’s rendition of “Careless Love” is the one to play in the ads.
Naw, RC’s “What’d I Say?”;…”Tell your mama, tell your pa
I’m gonna send ya back to Arkansas ” is aprapos
What she did was stupid and possibly damaging to her campaign but it wasn’t illegal. Obviously this we’ll still be a close race.
