During the early 1960s, conservative Phoenix lawyer William Rehnquist led local attempts by the Republican Party to monitor new African-American and Latino voters and prevent them from casting ballots, according to multiple witnesses. Ronald Reagan later made Rehnquist chief justice of the Supreme Court.
In 1982, the Republican National Committee was forced to enter into a consent decree meant to prevent the GOP from intimidating minority voters. According to the original complaint, the RNC’s “National Ballot Security Task Force” purportedly existed to stop voter fraud but in fact aimed to disenfranchise eligible African-American and Latino voters. Despite various attempts in the 34 years since by the RNC to have the consent degree lifted, it remains in effect.
In 2011, as Wisconsin Republicans feared that their candidate was going to lose a critical election for the state Supreme Court, one GOP lobbyist told colleagues that they should “start messaging ‘widespread reports of voting fraud’ so we are positively set up for the recount regardless of the final number.” Scott Jensen, a Republican former Speaker of Wisconsin’s Assembly, responded, “Yes, … stories should be solicited by talk radio hosts.” Another lobbyist then wrote, “Mike Huebsch should call a face to face meeting for today to decide who is going to do what — make assignments.” Huebsch, another GOP former speaker of the Wisconsin Assembly, was at the time secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Administration.
In other words, bogus claims of “voter fraud” are part of the Republican Party’s DNA, and are used as a transparently cynical attempt to justify restrictions on voting that suppress Democratic turnout.
It takes real effort to ignore this, as Republicans often state explicitly that they want fewer Americans to vote. As Paul Weyrich, one of the founding fathers of the modern conservative movement, put it in 1980, “I don’t want everybody to vote. … Our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.”
So don’t blame Donald Trump for his preposterous claims that the “election is absolutely being rigged” at “many polling places.” He’s merely turning the standard GOP lies up to 11.
Trump has delivered a potpourri of voter fraud rhetoric: That some Americans are going to vote over and over (“people are going to walk in there, they’re going to vote 10 times”); that undocumented aliens will vote, presumably once each (“illegal immigrants are voting all over the country”); and that the vote will be fraudulent in some general unspecified way (“the election is going to be rigged”).
Because of this collection of vague threats, Trump has told his supporters that it’s “so important that you watch other communities, because we don’t want this election stolen from us.” Some followers have vowed to engage in “racial profiling. Mexicans. Syrians. People who can’t speak American. … I’m not going to do anything illegal. I’m going to make them a little bit nervous.”
So don’t look for Republicans officials to denounce Trump en masse. Most either seem to value his rhetoric as useful lies or are victims of their own propaganda.
For instance, two dozen members of the RNC have affirmatively declared that they agree with Trump. Trump surrogates Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani have as well. Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus has simply maintained a discreet silence, as has Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
However, it is possible that Trump’s gone so over the top that there will be significant mobilization in response.
There is some evidence that the GOP’s attempts at voter suppression can actually lead to increased minority voter turnout.African-Americans made up 11 percent of Ohio voters in 2008; state Republicans then cut back early voting, yet 15 percent of Ohio voters were African American in 2012. “When they went after big mama’s voting rights, they made all of us mad.” The same pattern of attempted voter suppression and increased turnout also occurred that year in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida.
In addition, Wendy Weiser, director of the Democracy Program at New York University’s Brennan Center, sees “two silver linings” to Trump’s wild accusations.
First, “it has alerted election officials” — both state and local ones and at the Department of Justice — “that they should be prepared for problems on election day.”
Such officials “are on top of it,” Weiser believes, and will be able to prevent any attempts by Trump supporters or others to intimidate voters. “People are preparing and the polling place will be safe.”
Second, Weiser points out, the extremity of Trump’s rhetoric has in fact caused some Republicans “who were previously pushing fears of voter fraud to actually concede that voter fraud isn’t a real problem.”
For instance, Ohio’s Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted told CNN yesterday that “I can reassure Donald Trump, I am in charge of elections in Ohio and they’re not going to be rigged.”
Husted was responsible for Ohio’s early voting cutbacks in 2012, and then spent years investigating possible voter fraud in his state, finding essentially nothing. He is currently being sued for purging voters from the Ohio rolls.
Also yesterday, top GOP campaign lawyer Ben Ginsberg pointed out the obvious fact that “Republican election officials control 30 different states in the election mechanisms” and in those states “Republicans want this to be a fair election.”
Ginsberg was national counsel to the Bush presidential campaign in 2000, and ran its efforts to win the post-election Florida recount. In the past Ginsberg has been happy to speak about the “possibility of fraudulent voting taking place.”
For his part, Trump’s vanquished rival Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., has flatly stated that “This election is not being rigged.”
Weiser holds out hope that “maybe we will start to see some kind of retreat from this tactical and harmful rhetoric” about voter fraud.
Most importantly, she says, Trump’s aggressive stance “should not deter people from going to the polls.” If voters encounter obstacles, Weiser emphasizes, there is help available. “Call 866 OUR VOTE,” she says, the number of the nonpartisan Election Protection coalition. Election Protection can also be reached online via its website, Twitter and Facebook.
Voter fraud was so obvious in the primaries on so many different levels, some known and provable and others suspected (voting machine fraud).
What is up with The Intercept? Are we getting punked?
How, specifically, was it ‘so obvious’?
Did you even READ the article? It explains quite clearly why so-called ‘voter fraud’ is really not even a ‘real thing’, esp. not to the extent that it could possibly influence the outcome of an election. Here’s another article that spells out what garbage the whole idea is: https://www.brennancenter.org/analysis/debunking-voter-fraud-myth. It’s all about VOTER SUPPRESSION. Get it through your head. If you’re not A) Caucasian, and B) Male , and (preferably) C) a property owner … many Republicans feel you don’t ought not have the privilege of the vote.
I’m with Assange on this one. And if indeed, the full disclosure of Edward Snowden’s trove of documents would have shut programs down, then I’m with Assange on that one as well.
Also, I kind of object to the “burn it down” characterization of our man in the Ecuadorian embassy.
Still, the discussion is pertinent I suppose.
“Indeed, you won the elections, but I won the count.” — Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza (1896-1956), Guardian (London), 17 June 1977.
There is a lot of voter fraud, and a lot of available information about the fraud.
To say otherwise is a little scary since the information is so plentiful and easy to find.
We also know there are illegals found voting in every election, even where ID is required. This is because many can get drivers licenses or fake documentation rather easily.
Regardless of the amount of fraud, it is SIMPLE to have a system where there is nearly zero fraud, but the oligarchs will never allow this.
It seems unconscionable that anyone would allow any way to commit voting fraud, but the 535 want votes from anyone, dead or alive.
when will you guys start talking honestly about the elephant in the room i.e. vote flipping on hackable voting machines? it’s like the whole country has its fingers in its ears
La Raza (The Race) and the democrats register millions of illegals to steal this and every election.
Who says there is no voting-fraud?

I got to this point and then said to my self, this guy Schwartz has been doubling up on the medication Hillary’s team has been handing out. And is living in the happy shiny version of reality were Hillary isn’t a fucking cunt bitch aiming to blow up the fucking planet; and he is rebounding all those sexual factoids of Bill Clinton the serial rapist back at Trump. And believing that as truth. This Jon Schwarz guy is believing his own press. And all the other MSM. Time to stop my time with you guys.
The Intercept, Glenn Greenwald the bookmark for this site is deleted. I won’t listen to any more of your shit…you lost objectivity, and clearly have become the mouth piece of the Clintons and the corrupt Democratic party.
As someone who is from Ohio – the place where “People who can’t speak American shouldn’t vote” (including the idjit who isn’t aware that what he’s speaking is actually English, ffs) – I can tell you that while Husted’s study may have provided solid data that the kinds of election fraud the GOP has been alleging have not been occurring, he will continue to scheme to suppress the voting rights of certain kinds of Americans exactly as his GOP predecessor’s in office here have.
What has been dismaying to me though, was witnessing the democratic party engage in similar, if not exactly the same, kinds of suppression by closing primaries and excluding voters not registered as democrats. People vote for the person they feel most closely represents their interests and, in the primary as in the general election, that may mean voting across party lines. To restrict that voting makes them guilty of suppression as well, if not exactly in the same nasty ways as the GOP.
It’s really disheartening to see this DNA propagating throughout the entire political landscape, spreading and mutating to accommodate itself to whichever party has an urgent need seeking a low-voter-turnout linked *solution*.
I don’t think the election is entirely “rigged”, but it is beyond question that there is significant and widespread voter fraud in this country. Millions of dead people remain on the voter lists, and a substantial percentage of those names somehow get voted. After the 2012 election NC found that 100,000 people who had voted there also voted in some other state. Large numbers of illegal aliens are registered and vote; just recently it was shown that the number is several thousand in VA alone. There are a few states (such as CO) where this is especially prevalent. Numerous Youtube videos show college students openly bragging that they voted multiple times for Obama. Clearly they don’t know (or care) that it’s a federal crime. All of this is election fraud, and all of it effectively disenfranchises legitimate voters and diminishes our election process.
Outright vote fraud occurs, too. In the last election several precincts in Philadelphia showed 100% votes for Obama, which is simply not credible. And of course there have been cases where the vote total is greater than 100% of the registered voters.
Is all this enough to actually swing a presidential election? Probably not as a rule, but in an extremely close election one swing state can make the difference, and fraud could be a major factor. Does anyone still dispute that Kennedy stole the 1960 election thanks to Johnson’s machinations (read: fraud) in Texas? It could happen again.
There are undoubtedly instances of various forms of election fraud perpetrated by both parties, but by far the largest perpetrators/beneficiaries are Democrats, who control all the big city political machines (where much of the fraud occurs). To claim that fraud doesn’t occur, and that it isn’t a real issue, is either willful blindness or outright dishonesty. And to claim that it’s nothing but a Republican delusion is rank stupidity.

And let’s not forget the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which a higher percentage of Democrats in both the House and Senate voted against. Oh wait…
Discrediting elections and voters has been a well-used tactic of both parties (2000?), so maybe we should just say they are in the DNA of American politicians.
Come on, Americans, get it together! Your presidential elections aren’t rigged: they’re a LOTTERY. Winner take all state representation in the college on first-past-the-post counts? You might as well toss a bloody coin.
It’s your House of Representatives elections that are rigged, by voter suppression and gerrymandering, or by including prison populations when determining district size even though prisoners can’t vote; that kind of ludicrous shite – all part of the GOP’s ever more efficient system of ratfucking. And then, in the time-honoured fashion, they start yelling”Thief! Thief!” at their mark when they’re caught with their hand in his pocket; hence all the wank about voter fraud. Just so we’re clear about that.
“American democracy”, hah.
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., has flatly stated that “This election is not being rigged.”
Is that supposed to give people confidence? Because it doesn’t.
Rubio has also refused to use information from Wikileaks. He’s a known Neocon, and his Mideast foreign policy would be disastrous. And, given how the media were not critical of him (unlike Trump), he’s likely to remain in power. Further, given that the Florida Senate race has him running against DNC/DSCC favorite, ex-Republican Patrick Murphy (annointed over the “most productive” member of Congress and an experienced female candidate), it’s very likely that the Senate seat won’t change.
One of the insulting aspects, of this historically insulting election, has been seeing that the Republican Party elite had actually been telling themselves that their racism, sexism, and wantonly dishonest claims of voter fraud, were inscrutably concealed.
I agree with Weiser, that it’s useful that Republicans “who were previously pushing fears of voter fraud (were caused) to actually concede that voter fraud isn’t a real problem,” but it’s SO LITTLE.
We’ve been reduced to being grateful for the tiniest acknowledgement of reality.
Here’s news for you investigative journalists…
Who makes the digital voting machines?????
According to Smarmatic’s website, “In less than one year Smartmatic tripled Sequoia’s market share” and “has offered technology and support services to the Electoral Commissions of 307 counties in 16 States.” Smartmatic, a U.K.-based voting technology company with deep ties to George Soros, has control over voting machines in 16 states including battleground zones like Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Other jurisdictions affected are California, District of Columbia, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.
Among the “case studies” that Smartmatic lists on its website as examples of its work are Venezuela, where it has been facilitating elections since 2004 when it “won a bid to provide Venezuela with a reliable voting system.”
CHICAGO IS COOK COUNTY: It also lists Cook County, Illinois as another success story, when in “in 2006, Smartmatic signed what at the moment was the largest election automation contract in US history.” Cook County includes Chicago and its suburbs, a geographic zone that has historically and lately been subject to criticism for voter fraud.
The chairman of Smartmatic is Lord Mark Malloch-Brown, who sits in the British House of Lords and on the board of George Soros’s Open Society Foundations. He was formerly the vice-chairman of Soros’s Investment Funds and even the deputy secretary-general of the United Nations when he worked as chief of staff to Kofi Annan.
Who does Hillary suck dinner with???? GEORGE SOROS. Read the leaked emails, if you dare.
Put that in your hash pipe and smoke it.
Hey, Mr. Jon Schwarz… aka “tinyrevolution”….
Look up the definition of terrorist and ask yourself why you call yourself “tinyrevolution” and write garbage like the article above.
From what I can tell, the media is known as a gang of liars, now. Eventually, there will come a retribution unless you repent of your ways. I don’t think you are wealthy enough to own your own secret bunker in the Swiss Alps.
off the cuff,
party sponsorship + interest in voting systems = evil
simple math.
This is the second of two articles I’ve read on this site in two days that are just pure, unadulterated idiocy.
First: Reference the comment below regarding Sanders and how he was screwed out of his nomination by fraud, illegal collusion, and deceipt.
Second: Watch the Project Veritas videos that dropped this week (Oct 15thish 2016). Two top Democratic operatives proudly, adamantly, SELF-RIGHTEOUSLY BRAG about DECADES of large scale voter fraud, describe how they did it… All while conspiring to commit even larger scale voter fraud in this and future elections.
I had deep respect for the Intercept after watching Dirty Wars, reading about Snowden, and following the site for the past couple years.
Recently, however, you guys are looking just as bought-and-paid-for by the establishment (globalists) as everybody else. I’ve referred so many people to this site as THE place for non-partisan real news. I am very disappointed.
Maybe the next Wikileaks will include emails from Podesta to The Intercept suggesting some stories you could run right before the election that would be very helpful to the cause.
If you can’t read FAIR CRITICISM of the Republican Party without IMAGINING that you’re seeing approval of the Democratic Party, then that’s YOUR idiocy; NOT the Intercept’s.
Seriously?
One’s come to expact mainstream media turned into tabloid news with catchy headlines; but also the intercept?
Has there been an article/analysis about voting process and its safeguards to prevent voting fraud to put people’s (& Trump’s) mind to rest?
This is not merely about Trump and Republican party but about coercing the public opinion. At the end of the day it’s a convenient duopoly; only this time with Trump being rather inconvenient to the establishment.
One would be inclined to think the election is rigged in favour of Clinton indeed.
God bless America and it’s people (it needs it)
If you can’t read FAIR CRITICISM of the Republican Party, without mewling for the writer to stop it, then you’re an idiot.
Seriously.
speaking of voter fraud..
Election Justice USA Study Finds that Without Election Fraud Sanders Would Have Won by Landslide
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/7/29/1554022/-Election-Justice-USA-Study-Finds-that-Without-Election-Fraud-Sanders-Would-Have-Won-by-Landslide
keeping the search engine facts in line with the truth.
Firstly, the primaries were a total rigging success for Clinton.
Secondly,
if you deliberately tell the electorate the opposite of what you intend to do, mainly on
– Waging more wars for profit
– Unchecked Capitalism and Unchecked Globalisation,
does that constitute election fraud, or not?
One answer is, it is not illegal for politicians to lie. However to deliberately and continually mislead the masses about every single issue that defines the future of a nation, is this election fraud or not?
Well, from the very beginning, it was only meant for the ruling class to have political representation — not the plebs. Only white male landowners could vote.
And in actuality, as far as political representation is concerned, this is still true today. True, more than white male landowners vote today — but just because the ability to vote has been expanded to include those who are not white, property-owning males doesn’t mean that political representation itself has expanded.
The fact of the matter is we plebs don’t count, and never have. Go ahead, vote all you want, but the only interests being represented by any of these elected officials are those of the ruling class. Oh, sure, they may toss a bone on social issues here and there, but only enough to keep the plebs from getting TOO unruly.
Just because voting rights have expanded gradually over time doesn’t mean that political representation has expanded also. Remember that.
It is in this sense that voting in the US *is* a fraud.
Every GOP allegation of voter fraud, and the laws against it, seem to be about votes being cast that shouldn’t have been. But the most prevalent type of electoral fraud, and the one with the weakest measures to prevent it, is about preventing votes from being cast that should be.
Hopefully, the almost inevitable violence that will follow a Trump defeat will end up causing Americans to demand a change in the voting process from the hodgepodge of varying, often problematic, highly politicized rules to something rational.
There will be no violence.
The first, most important, information here is actual data on voter fraud. It’s worth saying again and again, if need be, that the best data, from multiple studies using multiple methodologies, shows that voter fraud is vanishingly rare and unlikely to have any effect on election outcomes.
Notice absolutely no raza or BLM movement demonstrations lately?
I guess Soros saw how it boosted Trump, and called off the riots.I saw a piece somewhere where a HB operative said something to that effect.Wikileaks?
Why would they all stop at once, and stay so?
Divide and conquer, and there are so many willing to preach and practice it.Quislings.
Simply disgusting.
And they cut off Assange, the Ecuadorans,as they hate Trump, because he wants to have secure borders. What a twisted tale, and they want that incredibly criminal pos HB as US POTUS?
Boy,you know they want to end the web.
No news but their news.Revolting.Yankee come home, screw this shite.
hmm
with all the media control, wmd and all, it sure seems that Americans are being played like yoyo’s.
the homies at the top must be saying things like “who can we count on? get the americans to vote for so-and-so. choice? what choice? (laffs)”
second note given the state of combined media coverage – 45 have endorsed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, three endorsed Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, four gave no endorsement, and USA Today, “in a break with more than three decades of precedent, weighed in specifically against Trump.”
Trump is correct – this will be the largest election rigging in history.
1. coverstory. building expectations of a win by Hellary will diminish the suspicion of rigging. Hellary and her dnc crooks are already known for criminal conduct of election fraud against Bernie, at least.
2. extortion. Newsprint media want to punish the Trump campaign for not spending money in politics.
Maybe they won’t rum Trump ads?
They sure run a bunch of HB ads though?Gratis?
The PTB that own all the newspapers and TV,and radio, and magazines, and political publications, and most web sites are all zionists, with possibly one or two exceptions.
They, and Israel, and the complete rejection of modern international laws and morals as they try to expand their stolen enterprise, are the basis of all this shite throughout the ME and Near East.
The last thing in this world that they want is an American POTUS who will do what he does for US,and their wishes will be, at last ,not ours.Hallelujah.And guess what,he is the best hope for the Israelis,as they find it impossible to compromise on their own.And the Muslims,as he will end these stupid CIA and wacko SD wars.
Whats not to like?
And Donald Trump is that man.
that is true – but for reasons known and rightfully so.

Former Trump Advisor: Scott Walker Has ‘Rigged’ 5 Elections …
double reporting
in close elections, voter fraud happens and it is NOT a matter of illegals
it’s the other stuff
Hellary Clinton – aka boss clinton – had dws oversee the ‘defeat’ of Bernie Sanders
MAKE NO MISTAKE – Hellary Clinton is a crook. The people who work with her are crooks. She does very crooked things – weapons to syria, murder in the Honduras, supports apartheid regimes and genocidal maniacs…
Mr. Schwarz points regarding the claims of the Republication party and DT is largely true.
However, this is not the same as saying that some parts of this election have curious statistical anomalies that may be an indication of “rigging”.
I wish this point would have been explicitly made.
I don’t insist every article have a “but on the other hand….” bit, but surely it is relevant SINCE IT’S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW that Democratic Party right up to Hillary Clinton herself are claiming (without the slightest shred of evidence) that Putin is trying to influence the US election. Which sort of implies that the process can’t be trusted, now doesn’t it.
Sheesh. Come on.
….all this handwringing in the media this week over how “dangerous” Trump’s remarks are too……is it not dangerous to blame a foreign country?
Let’s try the word Diebold as in machine. …..Or we could try Gore, Florida, Ohio.
NYC during the primary Democratic BS.
Of course the hacks proved that Bernie Sanders our wise known as Turn Coat was such screwed in the Democratic Primary
And of course don’t forget the Supreme Court taking care of Bush and told the people in Florida stop counting.
I would never vote for or support Trump, but Democrats need to be attentive to the issues from Trump supporters instead of insulting his supporters. In some zip codes of the USA it has been essentially an economic depression for decades, even if the region overall seems to be thriving.
For example: Hillary and the Democrats don’t have to support the coal industry itself, but they do need a plan for good jobs to replace lost coal jobs. Most former coal miners would probably like good paying clean energy jobs – better pay with less health risks.
In other words, Democrats have to address bad trade deals and have a plan to replace good jobs. Insulting and demeaning Trump voters while leaving them unemployed (or under employed) will only create a future Trump in 2020.
Any vote that enters a computer machine is immediately entering said voter into a rigged system. Diebold was one such machine. Only the Diebold designated person could access and download votes. Thus all this energy over voting ,at least in America is laughable. Your vote goes into the cloud so to say and the Cloud gives the final result.
The press is dying.
The Intercept is dead.
Oh, please. What’s a Dem partisan hack doing, writing for this site? What’s next–TI hiring Republican hacks to write articles during an election?
I recall plenty of times when it was the Dems complaining about election fraud and vote rigging.
Was the Dem primary rigged against Sanders? What say you, Schwarz?
“I recall plenty of times when it was the Dems complaining about election fraud and vote rigging.”
And not just at the national level–there are still democrats in Kansas who complain that the 2014 election was rigged because they can’t believe that the republican governor or secretary of state got re-elected (even though republicans outnumber democrats 2 to 1 here). There was even a professor from Wichita State University that sued the state because she claimed the election was rigged.
And if you want a good read about the dems and the media stealing the nomination from Bernie, read this great essay from Thomas (What’s the Matter With Kansas?) Frank:
“I have never before seen the press take sides like they did this year, openly and even gleefully bad-mouthing candidates who did not meet with their approval. This shocked me when I first noticed it. It felt like the news stories went out of their way to mock Sanders or to twist his words, while the op-ed pages, which of course don’t pretend to be balanced, seemed to be of one voice in denouncing my candidate.”
http://harpers.org/archive/2016/11/swat-team-2/
vote rigging has evolved into a more co-operative and larger effort
I can’t believe the Intercept would let this partisan hack continue to write articles like this. It is ironic that the party that tried to kill or capture Ed Snowden is now being coddled and allowed to publish democratic talking points on the Intercept … masquerading as articles.
The hypocrite Schwartz conveniently leaves out the fact that many democrats accused Bush of rigging first, Florida in 2000 and then Ohio in 2004. Apparently for authoritarian liberals like Schwartz, you can only point to possible election fraud if you have a ‘D’ after your name.
Shwartz is also historically inept. If he had come from Mars I might forgive his hate-filled foolish rant. He obviously is unaware of the massive election fraud in the 1960 election of Kennedy. Ironically, his idol, Hillary Clinton was a republican then, and she even found non-existent apartment buildings on Chicago registration forms.
Shwartz is no different than a bullying fascist that tries to take over a democracy. The first step in taking over a democracy is rampant corruption and control of the voting process. As Americans both Republicans and Democrats have a right to suspect, investigate and expose voter fraud.
But Shwartz wants to take away those rights by bullying you and thus ending the checks and balances of democracy. It is only in a dictatorship that you aren’t allowed to question votes, that you are shamed and attacked for suggesting voter fraud. Shwartz is enabling a new kind of soft fascism in America by bullying anyone who questions our teetering democratic institutions … unless of course they are liberals upset about Republican election fraud.
Take it down a notch sparky. And why not actually address the author’s points instead of just ignoring them completely? Republicans HAVE historically suggested voting fraud as a cover for restricting voting. Yes, Democrats were livid in 2000 because that was an actual case of an election being decided in the most undemocratic way possible.
In light of Trump’s comments about voter fraud this is obviously a very relevant discussion which is why the article was written.
Mentioning the less-than-savory things either party has done doesn’t mean you’re in the tank for the other. As we become more polarized though it seems this point is understood by fewer and fewer Americans.
The author’s points? He simply published Hillary’s talking points on the Intercept, which I did address. She got a free commercial.
One of the first signs of fascism is an intolerance to people who question the voting process. Do you honestly believe a country that holds elections where no ID is required, can do so without rampant corruption?
You just proved Trump’s argument. Liberals say he is evil for even suggesting voting fraud exists in our wonderful country, yet you pointed out the Florida debacle in 2000. Also, like an Ostrich, you stick your head in the sand the to the recent Wikileaks exposures of voter fraud and the primary election rigging regarding Bernie Sanders.
But I am sure you are like the battered woman, who keeps coming back, in your case to the Democratic party — no matter how corrupt they are exposed to be. Just the fraud committed against Bernie Sanders is enough to make Trump’s statements regarding rigged elections both unremarkable and true. You should be ashamed Bernie Sanders isn’t saying the same thing about American elections.
“Do you honestly believe a country that holds elections where no ID is required, can do so without rampant corruption?”
HA!
That’s been a claim by those pushing the “voter fraud” narrative for years- but it’s not true. Here in South Carolina, the Republicans pushed for changes to eliminate only one form of voter ID- the old Voter Registration Certificates. They had no photos, but they did have signatures, addresses and Voter ID numbers. Those were removed, and numerous other forms of ID replaced them, most of which cost money, many of which did not have signatures, and all of which could be used for things besides voting. (And thus, there’s moer incentive to forge them.)
As for Florida 2000 (and the South Carolina Republican Primary 2000), that was vote SUPPRESSION, not fraud. It’s a crime, but the states (or parties) should be punished, and not the voters.
Lets talk turkey;Yes the democratic voters were rightfully upset at the shenanigans and SC crap that followed, but the demoncrat party apparatus rolled over and died,as they did during the runup to the Iraq War,and even the investigation? of 9-11,a collusion effort assisted by the ZNN.
It’s one party, and Trump is the renegade actor, the first American nationalist since?,and the PTB are pulling out all stops in trying to torpedo him,as both party ear(big)wigs are all on the same page.
This is the fixing Trump is calling out,the political assassination by the borg to the first threat to their dreams of grandeur in half a century.
And if you point out the obvious truth,by talking turkey, its your deplorable DNA at fault.
Holy shite.
Save US Donald!
I’ve never gotten the feeling that he actually cares about globalization, but does care about getting the votes of people who do. I also don’t think the reason the media is lampooning him is because he’s a threat to powers that be, but because Hillary was always the candidate of choice and he’s an easy target. I don’t like HRC, but I just don’t buy all of the malarkey about him being some rogue that’s going to stick it to elites or whatever. He also seems to be pretty supportive of Israel so I don’t understand how you’re able to reconcile that one in your brain, since you’re a pretty blatant anti-Zionist (not necessarily supportive of that cause either, just seems like ALOT of cognitive dissonance)..
Mentioning the unsavory things either party has done doesn’t automatically imply loyalty to the other.
In light of Trump’s comments about election rigging this discussion is particularly relevant don’t you thin?
Voter fraud in the US is insignificant.
Election fraud – mostly rigged vote counting machines – decides US general elections.
And there’s a whole gamut of ways US primaries are rigged.
Indeed. Back in 2000, only one state had presidential primaries that were overseen by the parties and not the states- South Carolina. The party establishment backed Bush. Despite a lawsuit where the Republican Party agreed to open all the polling places possible, and to give 24 hours notice of any poll closings, over 1/5 the polling places were closed, and some were only announced the morning of the primary. Both John McCain and Alan Keyes said federal law was violated, and called for an investigation. Bush simply said that if there were any complaints, “let them take it up with the state party chairman.”
In 2004, eight states cancelled their primaries, leaving the parties to run the caucuses. More have done so since. Given the ties that Wikileaks and others have revealed between Clinton and the Democratic establishment, that’s one more way that Clinton used the George W. Bush playbook to “win” over Bernie.
ELECTION FRAUD IS HAPPENING ALREADY, but not the way they want you to think it would be done. Votes are manipulated electronically with a few lines of computer code which leaves NO trail. Watch how easy it is to do and see the evidence for how it was done in the Democratic Primary:

It's not even done with a "few lines of code."
I'm a programmer. It can be done with a simple configuration variable in a config file:
WeightA = 0.5….
Translation: Give "B" a two-to-1 advantage. Or, cut half of A's vote count.
Stuff like this can be set up in the individual voting machines… because there is NO audit trail.
It's a secret ballot, right?
