Americans are waking to the possibility of a crackdown on reproductive rights in light of a Trump-Pence presidency.
Sophia Benoit, a writer in Los Angeles, posted on Twitter:
if you have any questions about IUDs, i'm very serious you can DM me.
— Sophia Benoit (@1followernodad) November 9, 2016
Benoit told The Intercept that more than two dozen women reached out to her for advice about the IUD, a small device inserted into the uterus that, depending on the type, works for three to 12 years. “I recommend the IUD right now especially because it’s long term, which with 20 million+ Americans potentially losing their health insurance and potentially right to an abortion, is important,” she said.
IF YOU CAN GET PREGNANT: TRY TO GET AN IUD IN THE NEXT 70 DAYS WHILE YOU ARE STILL COVERED.

Any other women looking into getting an IUD before we have no authority over our own bodies or reproductive rights?
I know I am.

It's a good thing I'm going to change my birth control to a IUD this week.
It will outlast trump.

“I’m terribly worried about the status of reproductive rights,” Bella Mazzetti, a sexual health advocate, told The Intercept. “If [Republicans] are telling me what to do with my body, my uterus, without having experienced the same pain and health issues as women, that is them saying they know best. In this case, that is not true,” she said.
President-elect Donald Trump has been accused by a dozen women of sexual assault and harassment and was caught on tape bragging about sexual assault. In the final presidential debate, Trump said Roe v. Wade would be overturned “automatically.”
Mike Pence, Trump’s running mate, introduced the first amendment to defund Planned Parenthood in Congress in 2007. He also co-sponsored a bill that sought to redefine rape, distinguishing between “forcible” rape and other kinds. This year, Pence signed an anti-abortion bill in Indiana that mandated funerals for all fetuses — it was struck down after a judge found it unconstitutional.
Trump also said he would repeal the Affordable Care Act, although what he would replace it with is unclear.
Well since abortion is going to be banned I want everyone to know ahead of time that I will die getting an illegal one if necessary

“As an ob/gyn I am confronted daily with the complexities of women’s healthcare—medical, emotional, financial. Under a President Trump it would only get worse, and more dangerous,” wrote San Francisco-based doctor Jen Gunter in an article for Self Magazine last month.
Before the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973, as many as 5,000 women died annually from unsafe abortions.
“If Planned Parenthood wants to be involved in providing counseling services and HIV testing, they ought not be in the business of providing abortions,” Pence told Politico in 2011. “As long as they aspire to do that, I’ll be after them.”
“In a world where reproductive rights already seem too fragile, this is a huge blow,” Rosa Schwartzburg, a writer based in New York, told The Intercept. “There is no true liberalism without inclusive liberalism, and that means women, queer people, black people, brown people, disabled people, everyone. In stopping this movement of conservationism, we have to remember that there are people whose bodies and autonomy and safety are being affected so goddamn directly by this,” she said.
boys are pigs, fit the girls wit IUD so we don” have a bunch of unwed mothers who want to be employed by welfare because they think they deserve it or free day care. go after the boy and his parents to contribute to the raising the child instead of the tax payers.
Thank you Donald Trump for taking us from safe abortions. We are once again back to unsafe abortions, which means girls will start pulling out the clothes hangers, as well as back alley butchers will thrive like they did in the 60’s & 70’s.
Becky Bell I am SO SORRY that you DIED IN VAIN! My heart breaks for girls of America today and everyday for the lack of a corrupt and uneducated POS coming up. This man will NEVER be my PRESIDENT! The most hated man in America by thinking women!
Wonder if he would still want his wife if we banned BOOB JOBS since she is the spread it out, plastic boobies, first POS wife now? An immigrant that got a corrupt Visa for showing her body to the men of the world. Donald has such class. NOT! Funny how men are all for shaping women to their mold, but heaven help us to have a say in our own bodies. I say F**K all men that think they have any say in a woman’s body. If you are mad about this, join the Los Angeles March on Washington on January 21st. Looking for a million! Wonder if Memphis will take care of the women from Arkansas like they did before? That’s all we need is more meth kids from AR coming out of the meth capital of the world. We have such a smart man in charge, we haven’t had that in a very long time.
If you like it or not, the Democratic Party is the best available vehicle if it can be moved to change.
Dems must act now to cure the DEMEXIT:
-Stop pointing fingers and look in the mirror, to learn the lessons of this catastrophe.
-Allow new leadership to move this party forward, or get out of the way.
-Begin to Listen to Progressives and working people:

Do you people not remember the primary debate when Trump (dropped out of character) and said, right on stage “Planned Parent hood does a lot of good things”. He is a New York Liberal and always has been. A crook, absolutely but so are the rest of the rich. I wouldn’t worry to much on Federal anti reproduction rights being taken away; I would look at my State barbarians.
I feel sad for the : “as many as 5,000 women died annually from unsafe abortions.” before Roe but I feel sadder for the 700,000 Americans killed each year after Roe legalized their murder. I am hopeful that Trumps win will level teh Supreme Court to its conservative (Liberal from the fetus point of view) balance point.
Luckily for you, even though plenty of things people do make me sad, like gun violence, I don’t try to restrict their freedoms just to make myself feel better.
I hope you never have a daughter that ends up on one of those back alley butcher’s table. It isn’t a pretty site to see. A safe abortion between a woman and her doctor was much safer. Girls maybe it is time to educate you on how to use a coat hanger! Is that how you want to find your daughter one day? How would you feel looking at your daughter pregnant and knowing that the fetus inside her is going to be stillborn when she delivers? How could you sit and look at her EVERYDAY knowing that the stomach you are looking at is going to go from being delivered, not even resembling a real baby, to putting it in a coffin in the ground? Could you live with that and look your daughter in the face every day? I will NEVER in my life put a father through that again. I can tell you already she will hate you until the day you die. That is a guarantee. I hate my mother every day for destroying my childhood by not educating me regarding sex. I don’t go visit her grave, I try to not even think about her. That is how bad I HATED her and still do for what she did to me. The world is better off with her dead! That also comes from the first time ever having sex. Great introduction RIGHT!
Dear Mr President,
Leave my PUSSY alone!
Sincerely,
Debbie
Hey, I could care less what you do with your body. If you want to eat your fetus or baby, more power to you.
Planned Parenthood will never be shut down. It supplies a lot of fetal tissue to the DNC’s chefs — the Podesta’s — so they can make their favorite pizzas.
It worries me to hurriedly push off IUDs on women due to lose health coverage. They are not without risk, and what will the women do who have uterine perforations? I’m thinking a woman for whom the Pill was the best answer last week should probably stick with it. If the companies jack up the price ten-fold, we might need to recognize that an armed Zeta convoy shooting its way through the border to deliver a few semi rigs full of cheap Chinese Pills might satisfy the formal requirements of just war theory. But more likely we just need a network of women who share data on which doctors are cheapest and give prescriptions with many refills!
As for abortion, the “good” news is that the states that would ban it have already practically banned it. Getting an abortion in Texas is no easy feat. So a Roe v. Wade backtrack really doesn’t seem likely to do that much harm, at least not until the Texans talk themselves up to scanning women for fetuses when they cross the Mexican border and throwing them in cuffs if they come back without them.
I don’t think men should have a damn thing to say until they make it the death penalty for men to impregnate a women without her consent.
BRAV F**KING O! Finally someone who knows up from down. Thank you!
Abortions have been going on all along. My father told me about when he was a little boy and walked into the kitchen the women ran him out because they were performing an abortion on the kitchen table. Before Roe v. Wade, we were lucky as teenagers to have a doctor to go to who was safe. Around here, if you’re pregnant and go to the abortion clinic, the ones who are against abortion try to talk you into going with them. This happened to someone close. They brought her to a swanky hotel in New Orleans and put pressure on her to sell the baby to this rich couple. When she told them she wasn’t selling her baby, they whisked her away out in the country where she could not use a phone or have visitors for a month. The baby’s father was smart enough to tell her to keep her cell phone and where to stick it. He came and got her, which was not easy.
So wait, the potential change in abortion laws is pushing women to emphasize contraception instead? I mean, I’m not against abortion, though I don’t see it as something to be celebrated, and feel that turning it into a woman’s rights issue deflects the criticism from the Right (the rights of the fetus) instead of addressing it. But ultimately, the issue of when a collection of cells can be considered “human” is one science can’t answer.
Having said all that, if you’re relying on abortion to replace contraception, that’s a problem.
Youre not against abortion? Yeah, sure. The fetus has no rights until its actually born. If you have a problem with abortion, too bad for you. Bug out of it already–what a woman decides to do about a pregnancy is none of your business.
You think if you were a woman you would want people telling you whether you can abort a fetus inside your own body?
It is a problem when you don’t teach kids sex education in school. Hey tell the little boys to go start getting snipped, we women are tired of having to be the only responsible one. You men get off scott free and think you have the right to discuss abortion with us? We aren’t talking about football. We are talking about women having the same right to do with our body that you do with yours. When men want to start having the kids, science has done it. Lets cut off all rights to you. How would it feel to have the tables turned on you? Unless you have had an abortion or used a form of birth control. Go get an education. You aren’t QUALIFIED to speak on my body!
Women have to be smart and quit wasting their and expecting someone else to do the job for them.
Female reproduction is a woman issue, not a mans.
All yousmart women need to get out of the slaveowners lying churches, there is no compromise.
Note that church does not mean bible if that is your reading.
Learn where the churches have lied and confront with that.
Every taxpayer in the US pays over $1,000/1year to support nonprofits!
Get a grip and put your money where your mouth is!
Yeah, girls, smarten up already!
ROTFLMFAO! Men take no responsibility, duh! That is what you have to admit you call a total DUMB F**K!
If the state is empowered to make the ultimate determination as to whether, or not, women have the sovereign, inviolable right to unilaterally terminate a pregnancy at will, then is it actually a right? Ms LaChance suffers from the illusion that words like “rights”, “inclusion”, and “conservatism” are universally understood to mean the same thing. Even the term “viability” has proven to be an increasingly flexible term and will be subject to judicial review in time.
In Roe Vs Wade, the SCOTUS determined, in part, that:
For the stage subsequent to viability the State, in promoting its interest in the potentiality of human life, may, if it chooses, regulate, and even proscribe, abortion except where necessary, in appropriate medical judgment, for the preservation of the life or health of the mother. Pp. 163-164; 164-165.
Whether or not it’s a right in fact, many of us believe it should be a right. Even if the state is empowered to make that determination in fact, I don’t think it should be and I don’t think it should have any interest in protecting potential human life except in the sense of preventing anyone from terminating a woman’s pregnancy without her consent, which I would imagine is a very rare situation if it happens at all.
What we have seen repeatedly is states trying to get around R v W rather than necessarily trying to overturn it. The problem for someone trying to overturn the opinion is finding a valid reason to challenge it. I am not convinced that Trump or republicans will find that easy. Trump may think he can overturn it by fiat, but that is not how the system works.
abortions should only be for rich white girls who fly to europe on private jets and get them done in private clinics. or we should create a black market for abortion drugs (pharmaceutical abortifacients). that’s the american way
Progressive women got the president they deserved- they abandoned men’s issues in droves, abandoned prison reform (built the prisons in fact), abandoned truth in the rush to suppress free speech in the name of ‘misogyny’ campaigns and fake rape accusations.
Time to pull your heads out of your c…ooops- I can’t use that bad wordz here. If only women could end their navel gazing narcissitic impulses- they might see how many men ‘women’s issues’ have destroyed, and how many allies were lost.
How like a boy. Toughen up, pusscake.
It sounds like you’re very afraid of women and being falsely accused of rape yourself.
I imagine if more laws are passed that restrict abortion unless in cases of rape, then false rape allegations will increase. Might wanna be extra careful as to who you bed in the next four years or, y’know, just move to a state full of bible thumpers. They’ll welcome your kind with open arms!
Nope our government want all abortions banned, even in the cases of incest and rape, if they keep the one regarding a woman life that will be amazing. They just want all the new little tax payer, and soldiers that is the only reason they want abortions banned.
Keep paying for their corruption.
What a DUMB F**K! That is what this progressive woman has to say to you. Go get snipped and stop being a whiny little bitch! Get your head out of Trump ass.
I for one am happy to show the young girls how to use a coat hanger, one we go back to the dark ages in January. Buy stock, it will go up.
Sounds like irrational fearmongering to me.
I haven’t seen any proof of this, the entire GOP has apparently hated Roe v Wade since inception but has never acted to actually remove it. They say this every single election to gain support with young women.
They can’t do anything against Roe v Wade because it’s a Supreme Court decision, so obviously they haven’t “acted to remove it” other than appoint Justices that are against it, like Alito and Roberts. They did try to overturn Roe v Wade in 1992 but Kennedy switched.
The court is 5-3 in favor of Roe v Wade right now (Kennedy upholds Roe but often is in favor of more restrictions on abortion). Trump gets one nomination immediately. The likely next justices to retire are the liberal ones. Then it becomes 5-4 against Roe v Wade, and with a single court case it’s gone.
