Donald Trump’s upset victory Tuesday has brought joy to the defense industry.
Here’s a snapshot from Google Finance.

Trump campaigned on maintaining a strong military, but also voiced some skepticism about overseas military engagements and overpayments to defense contractors. The defense stocks surging is a sign that investors believe that Trump will be significantly more supportive of their priorities than he may have let on.

Of course the stock market is going to go to record highs (for now); the country just elected a fascist into the highest office. There is nothing better to business and financial cartels than fascism. This also includes the corporate media. This cabal (Trump, Newt, Chris, Rudy, et al) is going to proceed quickly to implement their agenda: finish tearing down the social safety net; undermine and possibly neutralize environmental protection laws; deregulate further quickening the pace for the formation of monopolies and oligopolies; and entrenching the surveillance police state to neutralize social justice activists and other undesirables (socialists, union organizers, environmentalists, and the like). What’s not to like from Wall Street’s perspective?

The vampires are thirsty for war-spilled blood.
Regardless of who is president, it seems there is no stopping the U.S.-led war machine.
Wonder which smaller, weaker country the U.S. will impose “freedom and democracy” upon next?
CHINA
HooHaa!
Stocks should be going down. There has been a military surplus of everything which in turn they fork over to the police departments. I was watching free speech tv yesterday when a 72 year old spoke out against this. He spoke of a small town in the U.S. that had three cops. They had been given $3 million worth of military surplus. Big guns, and all kinds of stuff they don’t even need. Ex. rafts, when the only water there is a little creek that is ankle deep. I’m so tired of seeing tax dollars wasted. The man said the policemen took the stuff even though they didn’t need it because they were getting it for free. Free? No, we pay for it. I cannot remember the man’s name.
What?! But why? Did he not tell us that he was an isolationist? And had HRC won, how bout those domestic firearm sales huh?
killing murder and mayhem
America’s stock in trade
speculation in all fronts….wait, we’ll learn what’s up…stop unnecessary fear; we get enough of it everyday…from speculating what they think they know…
And so the end begins.
they’ve been going up. especially when everyone “knew” hillary was going to win. remember that washington post piece about the “foreign policy elites” and how glad they were to see an end to obama’s “restraint”?
wall street numbers aren’t based on facts. they’re based on emotion and guesses and the urge to roll the dice. trump may very well boost the military (cuz ~$1 trillion/year is chump change i guess) but if he is less eager to use it for “democracy bombing” then whatever. maybe he can ditch obama’s insane $1 trillion nuke “upgrade” and even it out a bit.
Here is an article that quite succinctly explains, in her own words, Hillary Clinton’s views of America’s role in the world:
http://viableopposition.blogspot.ca/2016/08/rebuilding-globe-in-hillary-clintons.html
By her own admission, it looks extremely likely that, under a Clinton II presidency, long-term international turmoil and confrontation would have been part of her mandate.
A gratuitous article, conveying no information that we could have not ourselves obtained with a half dozen mouse clicks, and having no comparison. Given her hawkishness, what on earth do you expect would have happened had Clinton won?
Sadly, you maintain the illusion that in terms of military policy things would have been better under Hillary. We already know from the run up to the election that the neolibs were eager to reignite a cold war with Russia; with Trump at least there is a chance that won’t happen.
Admittedly, Trump is as much in the pocket of the Israelis as Clinton was, with his promise to recognize Jerusalem – a part of Palestine – as the Israeli capitol, and his avowed intention to vacate the nuclear arms deal with Iran. Just more evidence that there was no real possibility of a change to our military adventurism with either of the Party’s candidates.
More divide and conquer nonsense, those industries are reaping neolibcon policy ,and Trump is no neolibcon.
In fact he slew the zionist monster last night, and Muslims should rejoice, instead of being lickspittle for zion.
I wish I knew this before the election.
Why doesn’t The iNtercept print stories like this before the election so people will have an opportunity to not vote for a war-monger?
Republican always support war and fund defense. Democrats always support peace and fund defense.
Our perhaps the Deep State will drag this country into a wider war that President Trump will have no way of stopping.
Hopefully this wont surprise anyone. At least not people who read this or other news outlets like this. What i found interesting though is the news station i watched tgis morning was showing the fall of stocks in general and by quite abit. But our country is based off of warmongerig, so maybe there will be a large push to get the draft reinstated so when can get this warship moving like we are supposed to. I think if we can kill enough children, we might just win this War on Terror, especially with a leader that has his only experience of leadership as an authoritarian, like all CEO’s.
