James Comey, the FBI director, was asked if the official Twitter feed of the President of the United States was lying about the testimony he was still giving.
In a first for Congressional hearings, James Comey, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was asked to say under oath on Monday if the official Twitter feed of the President of the United States was lying about the testimony he was still giving.
The extraordinary moment came after Comey had confirmed to the House Intelligence Committee that there is indeed an ongoing counterintelligence investigation of Russian interference in the election of Donald Trump as president and “whether there was any coordination” between the Trump campaign and the Russian effort.”

— Bradd Jaffy (@BraddJaffy) March 20, 2017
Comey also stated categorically that there was no evidence to support the conspiracy theory that former President Barack Obama had ordered the wiretapping of Trump Tower, speculation Trump himself had stated as fact in a moment of Breitbart-induced delirium earlier this month.
After those revelations, Comey and Michael Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, were asked by Rep. Devin Nunes, the Republican chair of the intelligence committee and a former member of Trump’s transition team, if they had any evidence that Russian hackers had tampered with the counting of votes in the small number of states that swung the electoral college in Trump’s favor. Both men replied that they did not.
Video of that exchange was soon posted on the president’s official Twitter account, @POTUS, which is managed by Trump’s former caddy and current social media director, Dan Scavino. The president’s Twitter spokesman, however, added a caption which mischaracterized the testimony of the two men as proof that “Russia did not influence electoral process.”

— President Trump (@POTUS) March 20, 2017
That was incorrect. Comey and Rogers had instead both made it plain that they stood by their earlier assessment, in a report that was partially declassified on January 6th, that Russia had indeed hacked the email accounts of Democratic officials, and provided stolen messages to WikiLeaks, in order to damage the electoral chances of Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton.
A short time later, the two men, who were appearing before the committee largely to clear up confusion caused by the president’s earlier tweets — about “the Russia story” being “fake news” and President Obama “tapping my phones in October” — were asked by Rep. Jim Himes, a Connecticut Democrat, if the new @POTUS tweet was a fair summary of their testimony.
Comey and Rogers replied that they had offered no judgement as to the effectiveness of the Russian campaign on the opinions of American voters when they said that there was no evidence of tampering with the actual vote-counting in the swing states.

As the New Yorker correspondent Ryan Lizza noted, the White House seemed to have shot itself in the foot by live-tweeting its misleading account of the testimony before the hearing was over.
Good lesson for the president: wait until your top intelligence officials are finished testifying before mischaracterizing their testimony.
— Ryan Lizza (@RyanLizza) March 20, 2017
The same official government account was also used to misrepresent Comey’s refusal to go along with Rep. Trey Gowdy, who seemed intent on planting the baseless theory that former President Obama could have leaked the news that Trump’s disgraced national security adviser, Michael Flynn, had lied about discussions with Russia’s ambassador to the United States.

Before the hearing was over, Trump’s Twitter spokesman also falsely claimed that Comey had agreed with the premise that there was “no evidence of collusion between Russia and Trump Campaign.”

In fact, Comey had merely agreed that there was no evidence of that two months ago, when the January 6th intelligence assessment was released. He made it clear in his opening statement on Monday that the counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign and the Russian government to determine “whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts” was “ongoing.” That investigation, he added, “will also include an assessment of whether any crimes were committed.”
Top photo: James Comey, the FBI director, testified on Monday to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
This article is Fake News. Comey did not state there ‘is’ no evidence. He said he has no evidence.
A grant of immunity for Dennis Montgomery was obtained through Assistant U.S. Attorney Deborah Curtis (verified) Montgomery produced the hard drives and later was interviewed under oath in a secure room at the FBI Field Office in the District of Columbia (verified).
Well… justsomeguy…joshua88…rrheard…or whomever…since we know WHAT it is and WHERE it is and HOW it got there shouldn’t we suspend SUSPEND disbelief for the moment and call Assistant U.S. Attorney Deborah Curtis (a real person) to arrange to take a look at the “Project Dragnet Database” (a real thing) over there in a secure room (with a private detective with a security clearance) at that District of Columbia FBI field office (a real place)
I’ve been giving this some thought and noticed you found yet another publication choosing to give a voice to NSA CIA asset black hat Dennis Montgomery. He is a computer security and hacking expert who worked with the NSA and CIA. You know like Hector Monsegur or “Sabu” did with the FBI.
As I’m sure you know over the years spooks frequently employ and deploy compromised intelligence assets like Dennis with skills in specific fields whether its to help running manufacturing drugs to support insurgencies, tampering with elections, prepping for and staging coups, conducting assassinations, preventing computer or financial fraud or (in Dennis’ case) ENGAGING in computer or financial fraud fraud.
As described Dennis Montgomery worked for the NSA and CIA and like many intelligence operatives he is one colorful character. His weakness (and strength) appears to be a propensity for financial cyber crime and cyber intrusions which was considered an asset in his work on “Project Dragnet” and “The Hammer” for the NSA and CIA.
The ACLU was a party to the Sheriff Arpaio Case in Arizona in which they impugned the integrity of Dennis Montgomery and he sued them for unethical acts. Dig the summary below.
http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/klayman-and-nsacia-whistleblower-montgomery-sue-aclu-for-unethical-acts-300107107.html
This resulted in Montgomery contacting Attorney Klayman, who then approached the FBI:
“Under grants of immunity, which I obtained through Assistant U.S. Attorney Deborah Curtis, Montgomery produced the hard drives and later was interviewed under oath in a secure room at the FBI Field Office in the District of Columbia. There he laid out how persons like then-businessman Donald Trump were illegally spied upon by Clapper, Brennan, and the spy agencies of the Obama administration.”
“Montgomery left the NSA and CIA with 47 hard drives and over 600 million pages of information much of which is classified. He sought to come forward legally as a whistleblower to appropriate government entities, including congressional intelligence committees, to expose that the spy agencies were engaged for years in systematic illegal surveillance on prominent Americans, including the chief justice of the Supreme Court, other justices, 156 judges, prominent businessmen such as Donald Trump, and even yours truly. Working side by side with Obama’s former Director of National Intelligence (DIA), James Clapper, and Obama’s former Director of the CIA, John Brennan, Montgomery witnessed “up close and personal” this “Orwellian Big Brother” intrusion on privacy, likely for potential coercion, blackmail or other nefarious purposes.”
————————————————————-
Montgomery’s claims aren’t new, as other whistleblowers have alleged the same. Former head of the NSA’s digital spying team William Binney also came forward. Binney disclosed as fact the U.S. was spying on everyone in the U.S. and storing the data forever, and the U.S. was quickly becoming an Orwellian state. The Feds tried to intimidate him into shutting up:
“Numerous FBI officers held a gun to Binney’s head as he stepped naked from the shower. He watched with his wife and youngest son as the FBI ransacked their home. Later Binney was separated from the rest of his family, and FBI officials pressured him to implicate one of the other complainants in criminal activity. During the raid, Binney attempted to report to FBI officials the crimes he had witnessed at NSA, in particular the NSA’s violation of the constitutional rights of all Americans. However, the FBI wasn’t interested in these disclosures. Instead, FBI officials seized Binney’s private computer, which to this day has not been returned despite the fact that he has not been charged with a crime.
CHECK THIS ONE OUT FOR SURE – HE DESCRIBES INDEPENDENTLY WHO ONE FINDS ON THE PROJECT DRAGNET DATABASES: On top of prior allegations, Russ Tice also alleged that the Obama administration tapped judges and SCOTUS. Tice continued to Sibel Edmond’s BoilingFrogsPost and said they even “tapped members of Congress and the military.”
James Comey is a very nice and genial and intelligent person, but due to some quirk of fate he has been a disgrace to himself and his office for the past year. I suppose he would have himself fired any reportee who had a similar series of highly embarrassing and unprofessional episodes.
Therefore, both Mackey and Comey should stop doing the nuisance that they have been doing presently and look back and reflect on them in the warm comfort of their homes rather then continue their crappy behavior in office and elsewhere.
Comey did indeed do the single biggest thing in stealing the election for Trump by allowing that bogus investigation-has-been-reopened smear against Hillary concocted by the New York FBI and Giuliani to be dropped on her with no warning or decency and restraint. Comey disgraced himself and the FBI and stuck us with the worst man in American history to be president.
However, his weird dedication to what he sees as the truth means hee needs to stay as FBI director during this investigation.
Good to see the Intercept shoot down Devin Nunes’s claims Trumpworld was somehow surveilled when he clearly was not intentionally. That was a good shot for your credibility.
Nunes’s claim is a nothingburger, although it has destroyed his own credibility and ruined that of the Committee he sits on, the GOP side of it anyway. We already knew from Flynn that Trumpworld had contacted subjects of surveillance and been recorded. Which is a dang good thing.
Devin’s gambit failed.
And Schiff was quick to pounce.
No Trump wiretaps by Obama. His lie stands.
I PITY the fool!
THIS JUST IN
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-03-22/bombshell-cia-whistleblower-leaked-proof-trump-under-systematic-illegal-government-s
The same day House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes gave a press conference disclosing that President Trump had been under “incidental surveillance,” Attorney and FreedomWatch Chairman, Larry Klayman, sent a letter to the House Committee on Intelligence imploring them to pursue the claims and evidence presented under oath at a Washington DC FBI Field Office by his client – CIA / NSA Whistleblower Dennis Montgomery – who Klayman claims “holds the keys to disproving the false claims… …that there is no evidence that the president and his men were wiretapped”
When Montgomery a former CIA and NSA contractor attempted to deliver this information through the appropriate channels two years ago to congressional intelligence committees and various other congressmen and senators, including Senator Charles Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who, like Comey, once had a reputation for integrity, he was “blown off;” no one wanted to even hear what he had to say.
As a result, Montgomery went to attorney and FreedomWatch founder Larry Klayman – who then approached the FBI:
Under grants of immunity, which I obtained through Assistant U.S. Attorney Deborah Curtis, Montgomery produced the hard drives and later was interviewed under oath in a secure room at the FBI Field Office in the District of Columbia. There he laid out how persons like then-businessman Donald Trump were illegally spied upon by Clapper, Brennan, and the spy agencies of the Obama administration.
Montgomery left the NSA and CIA with 47 hard drives and over 600 million pages of information, much of which is classified, and sought to come forward legally as a whistleblower to appropriate government entities, including congressional intelligence committees, to expose that the spy agencies were engaged for years in systematic illegal surveillance on prominent Americans, including the chief justice of the Supreme Court, other justices, 156 judges, prominent businessmen such as Donald Trump, and even yours truly. Working side by side with Obama’s former Director of National Intelligence (DIA), James Clapper, and Obama’s former Director of the CIA, John Brennan, Montgomery witnessed “up close and personal” this “Orwellian Big Brother” intrusion on privacy, likely for potential coercion, blackmail or other nefarious purposes.
Given the fact that the FBI had Montgomery’s testimony and evidence for over two years, Klayman traveled to Washington DC last Thursday to meet with Committee Chairman Devin Nunes in the hopes that he would ask FBI Director Comey why the FBI hadn’t pursued Montgomery’s evidence. When Klayman arrived to speak with Nunes, he was “blown off” and instead shared his information with committee attorney Allen R. Souza – who Klayman requested in turn brief Nunes on the situation.
During my meeting with House Intelligence Committee counsel Allen R. Sousa I politely warned him that if Chairman Nunes, who himself had that same day undercut President Trump by also claiming that there is no evidence of surveillance by the Obama administration, I would go public with what would appear to be the House Intelligence Committee’s complicity in keeping the truth from the American people and allowing the FBI to continue its apparent cover-up of the Montgomery “investigation.”
And, that is where it stands today. The big question: will House Intelligence Committee Chairman Nunes do his job and hold FBI Director Comey’s feet to the fire about the Montgomery investigation?
Klayman has detailed all of this in a NewsMax article, followed up with an official letter to Chairman Nunes today, requesting that he question Comey on Montgomery’s evidence. Perhaps this explains Nunes’ impromptu press conference today admitting that Trump’s team was under “Incidental Surveillance” before making his way to the White House to discuss with the President.
So – we know that evidence exists from a CIA / NSA contractor turned whistleblower, detailing a massive spy operation on 156 judges, the Supreme Court, and high profile Americans including Donald Trump.
Devin Nunes’ statement that people in Trumpworld were caught up in surveillance targeted at foreign spies and subjects of interest is nothing new. We already knew what happened to Michael Flynn.
No surprise that if you contact foreign or foreign-front persons or companies currently subject to fully legal America surveillance, you will be recorded as well. Who would expect otherwise?
<strong<Nunes described the surveillance as most likely being “incidental collection.” This can occur when a person inside the United States communicates with a foreign target of U.S. surveillance.
Nunes said his new information appears to show that additional members of the Trump transition team — beyond former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn — were unmasked. This means they were identified in U.S. intelligence reports.

House Intel chairman: Trump’s personal communications have been collected
By Tom LoBianco, CNN
Updated 3:34 PM ET, Wed March 22, 2017
Nunes: Trump communications NOT with RUSSIANS
(CNN)House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes said Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s personal communications may have been picked up by investigators through “incidental collection.”
Nunes said at a news conference he discovered the potential surveillance of Trump himself while reviewing intelligence reports, but said it was not related to Russia.
Nunes said he alerted House Speaker Paul Ryan about the collection and is traveling to the White House Wednesday afternoon.
“I’m actually alarmed by it,” Nunes said.
Asked whether he felt vindicated by Nunes’ comments, Trump told reporters in a brief exchange he felt “somewhat” vindicated.
Democrats on the committee appeared blindsided by Nunes’ announcement. Rep. Jim Himes said he spoke with ranking Democratic member Adam Schiff, and that neither of them are familiar with the evidence Nunes is citing.
Nunes is chairing the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation into Russian meddling into the US election last year. Two weeks ago, Trump asked Congress to investigate whether Trump Tower was wiretapped by his predecessor, then-President Barack Obama.
On Monday, Nunes’ committee held a hearing featuring FBI Director James Comey and National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers. At that hearing, Comey confirmed for the first time that his agency is investigating possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign and whether any crimes may have been committed during last year’s election campaign as part of a wider probe into the hacking of Democratic servers and the Clinton campaign.
Also at that hearing, Comey said he had seen no evidence so far of the specific allegation of “wiretapping” Trump Tower.
So, the Nunes comment is a nothingburger. And had zero to do with Obama wiretapping Trump. And we already knew this from the Flynn transcripts.
Moving on.
“This all appears to be legally collected foreign intelligence under FISA,” Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) told reporters at an impromptu press conference. “
Hello Mcfly. Is anyone home?
http://thefederalist.com/2017/03/22/bombshell-intelligence-reports-show-trump-monitored-obama-admin-post-election/
The question is why was it unmasked if it was unmasked, and then who was on the dissemination list and why was the list so broad? he added.
The Republican congressman said there was nothing about Russia or the investigation of the Trump team’s ties to Russian officials in the reports he saw.
Nunes said a report detailing these claims will be released on Friday with help from the NSA, but that he was doubtful the FBI would be as cooperative.
Trump has no honor, he lies constantly, he does no have the foggiest idea on how to be a president. Given all of these qualities people will be on his butt as long as he is in office, not to long I hope.
The FBI is finding out quite a bit about Russian activities during our election, they are looking for a trumpette to tie it to. If any of trumps buddies are charged with a crime, working with the Russians, and that person receives immunity, the wheels will come off of trumps wagon.
Wishful thinking by lesser men and the women that love them…
I’m a two time Obama voter who (in this post Snowden post Vault 7) world believes Donalds’ constitutional rights are no less important than Daves’.
So you still can’t find any example of Trump lying?
“It was clear to President Trump and to those in his campaign after they were elected and they did a review back that the Obama administration sought FISA authorisation to do surveillance of the Trump campaign in July and in October. They were denied in July. They were given approval in October. And in October they did some types of surveillance of the Trump campaign.”
It could be that some agency is looking to tie some stuff together and by telling Pres Trump that he was being spied on in October, someone in the Trump camp would start calling for cover and making rounds and in so doing, help whoever in whatever agency to clarify that picture.
So to Recap:
There has been an offcial investigation into Trump’s communications since before the election; Everyone’s phone and internet records are being collected and put in a database which is shared with several foreign nations; There have been numerous leaks from unnamed intelligence officials intended to hurt Trump both before and after the election.
But Obama didn’t spy on Trump. To suggest otherwise would be ridiculous
Right. Trump would appear to be the sole and single exception to the rule Joe. What are the odds?
It’s amazing huh?
Even the investigation into Trump’s communications didn’t involve looking into his communications apparently
ah, rules of evidence, Joe.
A dirty tricks campaignster like hellary’s would pierce the veil of privacy with the flimsy investigation spear while gleaning campaign information to be used as leverage in an election, not in court.
these political moves go way back.
well then if you follow that line of reasoning then Trump the most powerful man in the world, must be spying on Obama. And if the potus is hooked up at all times to what’s being surveiled like some kind of cyborg as you suggest, then we’re all being watched by Trump too
The NSA automatically spys on everybody Candace with or without the most powerful man in the world.
If (beliefs about) what the intelligence agencies do is the same thing as the president ordering a wiretap on anyone, then we all includng Obama have the same exact claim to make against President Trump.
The Snowden Docs show what the National Security Agency does. We don’t have to take it on either faith or belief anymore being secure in the knowledge. New Vault7 releases today so I.m going to go check those out. According to Russel Tice they’ve been tracking Barack since he was in the Illinois state legislature well before his speech at the 2004 DNC convention.
Bingo!
Yeah, there’s a logical hole there I don’t understand.
Mr Schiff is demanding a public statement from Mr Klaus who contracts with the CIA for the NN list (naughty-nice), and is prepared to swear that Trump organisation was not spied on by his band of elves.

Who are the Awan IT Staff that hacked House Intelligence Computers? And Why Won’t the Media cover this Evidence-based Story? [Research Node]
https://www.reddit.com/r/TruthLeaks/comments/5zvizh/who_are_the_awan_it_staff_that_hacked_house/
Imran, Abid and Jamal Awan were IT staff hired by 31 House Democrats at a rate of 2.5-4x the median pay, yet were never really around.
They were fired earlier this year 2/2 for hacking House Intelligence Computers and on suspicion of stealing equipment.
They were concurrently running a front car dealership “Cars International A”, and driving dignitaries around while employed as fulltime staff in the Congress.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz managed them.
Jackie Speier petitioned for them to obtain TOP SECRET clearance.
Obama gave them VISAs when they went to the white house with a visa lawyer.
There is also Omar Awan, and 2 of their wives in this story.
All the “Awans” (suspected as a reusable ‘spy name’ like ‘Braverman’) are alleged to have been involved in a burglary of 20 congressional offices–stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment including computers and servers;
They 3 brothers were fired for illegally accessing and downloading information to a private server (similar to Hillary and Abedin),
And have since fled to Pakistan after moving money from shell account to Pakistan, holding their stepmother hostage and preventing her from visiting her husband, allegedly bedridden and died without any trace of a birth (lol) Death certificate. Yet he lives on in Pakistan, where all the brothers are now, putting islamic extremist jihadi propaganda on their facebook pages. “We are Awans, we break bones not hearts”. You know, representative of the sunny DNC / California types you trust your daughter to go surfing with.
They have ties to Hezbollah — “Imran owed money to Hezbollah”
House Democrats – including former DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz – are standing by the Awan family, suggesting that racism is the reason behind the prove and the allegations. Keep in mind, they are standing behind criminals who DID illegally access computers, and DID hold their stepmother captive and DID illegally empty their Dad’s account (insurance fraud–Capitol police said) before fleeing to Pakistan (no power of attorney as it was unsigned). If you aren’t guilty, why flee, taking everything with you?
Representative Gregory Meeks has said he maybe thinks they’re being framed because they’re Muslim,” answered Rosiak. “But we have a police report showing that their own step-mother called the police on them, and she’s of course Muslim
Awans had money troubles. Abid declared bankrupcy in 2012 with 1.1M in debt.
They had a front company called “Cars Interational A (CIA)” it had odd finances and was unable to repay a loan to Dr. Ali Al-Attar
Dr. Ali Al-Attar : Philip Giraldi, a former CIA officer, wrote that Attar “was observed in Beirut, Lebanon conversing with a Hezbollah official” in 2012–shortly after the loan was made.
Dr. Ali Al-Attar has also been accused of helping provoke the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq as a leader of Iraqi dissidents opposed to Saddam Hussein.
Dr. Ali Al-Attar was involved in raping women while they were under his anesthesia.
WikiLeaks emails show that although Imran was employed by her taxpayer-funded House office, the Florida Democrat’s world — and iPad — mixed DNC, House and campaign business, and that Imran was on call for, and on a first-name basis with, top DNC staff.
The Capitol Police are investigating NOT the FBI. Isn’t that weird? This is an international conspiracy handled by the police?
Paul Ryan says the police have enough to do their job
FBI have been slowfooting other investigations on Clinton’s server, Huma Abedin’s server, and now they aren’t investigating the Awan server, even though it’s clearly linked by way of Debbie Wasserman Shultz’s IPAD which we know the Awans had the password for (ie: admin access)
This story is NOT being covered by the Media. Why not? It seems like a bigger deal than watergate

What’s scary about that is that there is no crime even if their wildest accusations are true.
Vladimir Putin could literally be running Breitbart’s newsroom and selecting all of their stories and that would not be a crime
That’s a go Joe.
That is an interesting flight of fancy there, Joe.
Just to clear things up for you, this is not about Russians engaging in propaganda, like they do on RT, which is not illegal or much of a concern to anybody, but about Russia’s unauthorized hacking of the DNC and John Podesta.
The latter is a stone crime you can go to jail for. Some guy went to jail for hacking Sarah Palin’s emails, remember.
Hope that clears that distinction up.
Shameful. Time to do the honorable thing.
Do the honorable thing?
You mean sing “Take Me Out To the Ballpark?”
So…your theory is that the unknown leaker/hacker of the DNC emails was actually directed by Breitbart who then gave the info to the Russians who then gave the info to wikileaks
Wow
RT is not propaganda. It is straight talk.
WMD wallstreet whore lying media, that is propaganda.
stealing homes, falsifying home values, defrauding investors with paid for illegal ratings and lies, all propaganda and theft.
you need to get your head straight or out of, whatever.
RT is nothing but a propaganda project by Vladimir Putin to launder his lies, human rights abuses, media control, corporate kleptocracy and lethal crimes for the credulous, the naive and the deluded. Any leftist or progressive who sullies himself with their sewage is a creature worthy only of pity.
I would hope that the Intercept of all places would not be categorically dismissing the trump wiretapping “conspiracy theory”. This publication exists because of the Snowden Revelations, and thanks to them we found out:
– The NSA captures almost all data on everybody – including but probably not limited to: any and all internet traffic (emails, VoIP, web traffic, skype, etc), all phone meta data, any phone contents made to people who may be foreigners up to 3-6 hops, and God only knows what else.
– We know the majority of collected data is collected in the USA.
– We know that the NSA uses a single global distributed database to store all this data
– We know that “5-eyes partners” have full access to this data just as the US has access to theirs (i.e. It is a SINGLE database accessible by XKEYSCORE)
– We know that joint intel operations with other countries’ Intelligence Services such as between the NSA and GCHQ are kept off the books and little to no records are kept of such activities.
While I have no evidence that Obama did get any transcripts of the happenings of Trump Tower, it’s pure idiocy to claim he couldn’t and dismiss this out-of hand as a conspiracy theory (when the president himself claims it happened [regardless of what you think of guy]). That’s the problem with mass surveillance that many of us foresaw in 2013 when Snowden first revealed what he did.
Right you are Anon. The Intercept should refrain from obtuse semantic (wiretap or surveil) misdirection which only serves to confuse new readers about the nature (24/7) and extent (everybody all the time) of US domestic digital surveillance because TRUMP….
During the Comey hearing he kept repeating that the Russians and the hacking had “undermined our election process” or our “democracy” I kept thinking our Reps, our Supreme court (Bush v Gore), the DNC (Wasserman Schultz) unnecessary and deadly wars have firmly undermined our “democracy”.
On Morning Joe today (Tuesday) General Hayden nailed what I was thinking during the whole hearing. I watched all of it. Russia just took advantage and piled on all ready “existing fractures” Bingo
Russia did not create those “fractures” A Supreme Court Presidential selection, an unnecessary and immoral invasion of Iraq, hundreds of thousands dead in Iraq, Libya, Syria, a media that seldom reports about that reality, a DNC that tipped the campaign scales etc etc.

So the Trump campaign and POTUS Trump have been under investigation since July. And no surveillance was done under said investigation, & no classified information from said investigation was shared with then Atty General Lynch?
Was this asked? While NSA Rice,a proven liar and political apparatchik was able to review any classified information from said investigation..,did she? Did Ben Rhodes?
Comey disappointed me in many ways. First, how can he respond assertively that Vladimir Putin wanted Brexit to pass? A majority of Britain’s voters apparently wanted same Director Comey, and given the sad state of the E.U. and its economies, why wouldn’t Putin want Brexit to fail rather than pass? Does Director Comey have intelligence? Did Director Comey do a Vulcan mind meld with Putin?
Also, DOJ gave him approval to out his Trump investigation, but not that a criminal investigation exists for leaks? One is Okle Dokel but the other is , no way Jose.
I instinctively feel surveillance was done on Trump, his campaign, and his associates. Was it by Obama, most likely not, but was classified shared with White House personnel that made it into the public realm via leaks? Will the FBI investigate? We don’t know because Director Comey only informed us that his agency is investigating the Trump campaign.
Here’s hoping the incompetent Republican’s will ask former CIA Director Brennan,if he requested from his General Council approval for non FISA monitoring using an electronic monitoring device . This is allowed under EO 12333 Annex B. Here is the language from Annex B
“In addition, Annex B explains that the CIA may “use a monitoring device within the United States under circumstances in which a warrant would not be required for law enforcement purposes if the CIA General Counsel concurs.”
And your instincts are good. Thanks for pulling the Annex B language and sharing it.

I would just suppose I asked the question to get an answer? Or Did I? Kinda like the old Nutrino…Knock Knock. Your Guess Dud. But thx for the concern. Kinda uncommom these days. Taht God for the Watch Dogs, huh?
Did you get my reply? Did you get the Joke yet. The others did.

America – This is not a sit-com or reality tv. It’s real the president really does tweet whatever pops into his head he really does spend his weekends in a resort in Florida your representatives really do question intelligence officials if he is lying or if they think he is merely insane. But for reasons known only to them are afraid to ask that question.DO not ADJUST your SET
For the rest of this year, and probably the next, when I hear the words, “Russian Hacking” I will mentally impose the words,” Two-party distraction” or ” Wikileaks diversion” and the story will become clear.
Apparently, there is some evidence that Trump was “wire-tapped” by NSA “Operation Dragnet” where Trump’s phone numbers and his family members and Trump Tower and such were listed.
http://www.newsmax.com/LarryKlayman/dennis-montgomery-judge-leon-nsa-trump-wiretap/2017/03/05/id/777015/
Jerome Corsi claims they also provided the New NSA whistleblowers screen images from the NSA “Project Dragnet” databases contained in 7 hard drives turned over to the Arizona Courts to Wikileaks. I have not been able to verify this yet. Anybody here know how to reach Wikileaks Glenn? Anything in the Snowden Files?
Sounds like a JTRIG fantasy camp to me especially if the “foreigners” the FBI and NSA JTRIGed “planted” in your communications now permit the CIAs domestic arm to roll out Vault 7s “own all your internet of things all devices from the root see what you see in real time” on their collective way toward parallel constructing your crews wing in a for profit prison.
“Comey also stated categorically that there was no evidence to support the conspiracy theory that former President Barack Obama had ordered the wiretapping of Trump Tower…”
Hey Mackey, You should check out this guy named Glenn Greenwald who has written extensively about government wiretapping programs. He wrote a series of articles in “The Guardian” newspaper right after the NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden leaked documents about the U.S. government’s mass surveillance programs to the press. According to him, the U.S. government, under the Obama administration, was basically wiretapping everybody. All of our phone calls, e-mails, text messages, social media posts, etc. Here’s one of his articles from that time period. There were many more, but this seems to describe the most extensive program.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/jul/31/nsa-top-secret-program-online-data
I think that would tend to indicate that the Obama administration was indeed wiretapping Trump Tower … because they were wiretapping everyone and everything! Or maybe this Greenwald guy writes “fake news” and promotes “conspiracy theories” without “evidence”?
There’s also this podcast called “Intercepted” hosted by a guy named Jeremy Scahill. He had Edward Snowden as a guest recently and Snowden reiterated the claim that the federal government has been collecting all of this data and anyone with the appropriate security clearance could access it.
Maybe Comey lives in a bubble where he’s unaware of what’s happening outside the FBI, but based on the Snowden revelations, I think there’s definitely “evidence” for the “conspiracy theory” that Trump was being wiretapped … along with everyone else.
Wiretapping doesn’t mean what you seem to think it means in this case. Do you actually understand what it was the NSA was doing? Because if you do, you would understand that what Trump is claiming is something completely different.
“Comey also stated categorically that there was no evidence to support the conspiracy theory that former President Barack Obama had ordered the wiretapping of Trump Tower…”

“wiretapping” means the monitoring or interception of an electronic communication by a 3rd party, unbeknownst to the other parties involved. It’s a colloquialism that hearkens back to the days when this involved physically tapping into the wire of a telephone line. In the contemporary vernacular, it pertains broadly to the interception or monitoring of digital communication by any means. I think that’s what Trump probably meant when he used the term.
The NSA IS (not ‘was’) collecting data by accessing the backbone of the internet infrastructure to sweep up everything and then compiling the information into a searchable database. The fact that Trump Tower doesn’t need to be physically “wiretapped” to intercept the communications is hardly relevant.
Interesting and insightful analysis by Marcy Wheeler:
https://www.emptywheel.net/2017/03/20/when-a-white-republican-gets-spied-on-privacy-suddenly-matters/
An excerpt:
“This whole series of questions frankly mystifies me. I mean, these two men who ostensibly provide oversight of FISA clearly didn’t understand what the biggest risk to privacy is –back door searches of US person content — which at the FBI doesn’t even require any evidence of wrong-doing. That is the biggest impediment to reauthorizing FISA.
And testimony about the intricacies of unmasking a US person identity — particularly when a discussion of traditional FISA serves as stand-in for Section 702 — does nothing more than expose that the men who supposedly oversee FISA closely have no fucking clue — and I mean really, not a single fucking clue — how it works. Devin Nunes, too, has already expressed confusion on how access to incidentally collected US person content works.
Does anyone in the House Intelligence Committee understand how FISA works? Bueller?
In retrospect, I’m really puzzled by what is so damning about the Flynn leak to them. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m very sympathetic to the complaint that the contents of the intercepts did get leaked. If you’re not, you should be. Imagine how you’d feel if a Muslim kid got branded as a terrorist because he had a non-criminal discussion with someone like Anwar al-Awlaki? (Of course, in actual fact what happened is the Muslim kids who had non-criminal discussions with Awlaki had FBI informants thrown at them until they pressed a button and got busted for terrorism, but whatever.)
But Rooney and Gowdy and maybe even Nunes seemed worried that their colleagues in the House have seen someone like them — not a young Muslim, but instead a conservative white man — caught up in FISA, which has suddenly made them realize that they too have conversations all the time that likely get caught up in FISA?
Or are they worried that the public discussion of FISA will expose them for what they are, utterly negligent overseers, who don’t understand how invasive of privacy FISA currently is?
If it’s the latter, their efforts to assuage concerns should only serve to heighten those concerns. These men know so little about FISA they don’t even understand what questions to ask.
In any case, after today’s hearing I am beginning to suspect the IC doesn’t like to have public hearings not because someone like me will learn something, but because we’ll see how painfully little most of the so-called overseers have learned in all the private briefings the IC has given them. If these men don’t understand the full implications of incidental collection, two months after details of Flynn’s conversations have been leaked, then it seems likely they’ve been intentionally mis or underinformed.
Or perhaps they’re just not so bright.”
I say we (everybody) makes constitutional bank limiting law enforcement parallel construction efforts against black female Republicans while prosecuting and convicting every unnamed intelligence official leaking the 4th amendment protected communications of government officials to everone EXCEPT those charged with providing oversight of them. I am not sure I fully tracked your excerpt, but if I am getting the gist of it, it seems Wheeler is concerned about how surveilling a legitimate target like Awlaki or a Russian agent by the US could accidentally pick up American citizens making inoffensive contacts in the process.
Well isn’t finding any American contacts by the bad guys part of the point of such surveillance? So their nature could be determined? Why would we be outraged that such things as innocent contacts were picked up by the agencies, like somebody who dialed a wrong number and then started up a conversation with a stranger, which I have done many times? So long as this material is irrelevant or immaterial to the investigation, it would be ignored.
I do think vigilance and restraint is in order, but I have no problem with such things at all. It would cripple an investigation if they immediately had to drop any conversations between unknown or new Americans with the bad guy the second they were found not to be on a FISA list. Why would anyone expect their conversations not to be recorded and checked if they find later they were calling a Russian Mafia front company for instance?
As long as one side of the conversation or contact was a fully-vetted and legal surveillance target, recording such contacts is entirely appropriate.
Am I misinterpreting it?
The leak of it is a separate issue.
Flynn, Sessions, Clapper, Brennan and Yates are the bad guys (and gal)?
In this article (or curated catalog of tweets, or whatever the hell I just read was) Robert Mackey explains that a complete lack of evidence can only be used to discredit claims that he doesn’t like. Ridiculous, fact free claims that he subscribes to cannot be discredited just because there isn’t a single piece of evidence behind them. Wonderful journalism from the Intercept as always.
While trying to read the article I was struck by the high level of eye-strain I began experiencing. The subsequent nausea was nearly debilitating.
Naturally, I abandoned quickly the idea of continuing to read but, I was intrigued as to what might precipitate such a sudden onslaught of severe symptoms.
Upon further examination, and only after careful mental preparation, did I begin to examine what would eventually be described accurately as wreckage.
Amazing turnout at #strike4repeal …
— Shannon (@_shxnn) March 8, 2017
The use of tweets as load-bearing elements for the entire article is resulting in structural failure. I believe witnessing such literary carnage is the source of my symptoms.
I need some Bizmo.
Dissapointed to see the usual war party spin represented as fact here. Let’s go over the inaccuracies in this article.
(1) in the title, Comey did not fact check the president’s tweet. In fact he refused to answer questions about the wiretapping of Trump except to repeat his prepared statement which he said had been approved by the Justice department.
(2) Comey did not say (“categorically” or otherwise) that there is no evidence of Trump’s accusation that Obama was spying on him. He made a prepared statement that was very carefully written and said that he had “no information” and neither did the Justice department, about a “physical wiretap”. He made a very limited and precisely crafted form of denial.
(3) Trump’s statement about Obama spying on him seems sourced not to Breitbart, but to independent stories put forward by the BBC and the NYT sourcing multiple anonymous people from within the American security community. it could be bullshit anyway of course, but the story has the same level of gravitas as the entire Russian conspiracy theory that this article pushes as fact. Which is to say — security community gossip. That is, if you completely disregard the word of the US POTUS as less reliable than anonymous gossip, which may be true with Trump but is certainly not something anyone would have claimed before this story came along.
The rest of this story seems to be about Trump’s spin about whether the Russians influenced the election and whether there was any evidence of a connection between the Trump campaign and the Russians. I have to say that in my view although Trump’s spin was slightly wrong he was a lot more close to being honest than his critics have been.
But to this article’s credit at least it didn’t lie and say that Comey said there was an investigation into the Trump campaign as most of the war party media seems to have decided on as their spin. It does however artfully suggest something like that through it’s use of words.
It should go without saying that if the FBI are investigating the Russian influence on the election then the FBI would look into any “link” brought to their attention between Russia and any person or body having something to do with the election. Most of those links would presumably come to nothing, and there would presumably be many such links with eg the Clinton campaign too, especially if “link” is very broadly defined. Comey appeared to agree with that idea, so it’s not clear if he was singling out the Trump campaign as especially interesting or not, and to the extent anyone asked him to clarify his prepared statement, he refused. So he really rather carefully said a big fat nothing beyond confirming that there was an investigation into Russia’s influence on the election, and not just a more narrow investigation into the hack (or leak) of the DNC.
He said so little in fact that I wonder if he is essentially refusing to recognize the oversight power of Congress at this point. However without knowing what he has said in secret that’s a hard call.
Naturally your GOP double standard prevails: Trump gets to make mendacious evidence-free accusations, but you can only call him on it if you can actually prove he is wrong in every possible permutation of reality, like maybe a janitor at the NSA tapped Trump for Obama. Can’t prove that wrong! Could be!
Please.
Of course Comey fact-checked the President’s tweet. He said the FBI had looked into the matter carefully and had found absolutely nothing to support it. So did the NSA director regarding the Spicer accusations. And they would have access to and the ability locate any FISA efforts to go after Trump by Obama or contacts in Britain who coudl quickly shoot down such lunacy.
Comey also fact-checked a tweet that Trump sent during his hearing, in real time, falsely claiming Comey had said Russia did not influence the election. which has to be the funniest takedown of Trump of the year. Comey did no such thing, he merely said the Russians had not hacked the voting process, which nobody I have heard of is alleging. and he corrected the Trump tweet brusquely.
Both the BBC and the New York Times articles indicate absolutely no such thing as a tap on Trump Tower directed by President Obama. And they said so. They indicate that intel investigations of the criminal hack of the Democrats were ongoing and intersected with Trumpworld. No one person can order a wiretap in the American government, and no evidence exists whatsoever of the British involvement.
Trump had been lying and slandering his entire life, something he refined and developed under the tutelage of Roy Cohn, the vicious McCarthyite creature he so admired for his toughness and ability to destroy people with fabricated accusations and or none-existent crimes.
To see the once respectable and sane conservative movement degenerate to this level of horror, lies, conspiracy theories and murderous indifference, inhumanity and incompetence is to witness a great tragedy engulfing people we used to admire on quite a few levels even if we felt they were usually wrong.
I’m a communist. Try not to embarrass yourself with ad hominem arguments (“you must be in the GOP and therefore what you say is wrong”) that wouldn’t work even if your guesses were correct. You are really just telling people you’re a poor thinker.
You are mischaracterising what Comey said as anyone can see if they simply look at the transcript which is available on-line now.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/03/20/full-transcript-fbi-director-james-comey-testifies-on-russian-interference-in-2016-election/?utm_term=.c1c6a53b84fd
The funny thing about the statement that Russia didn’t have any impact on the election is that it was the war party lot that was saying this about a month, month and a half ago. Now the sides have flipped over. of course there’s no evidence that Russia even tried to have any impact let alone that they did try and succeeded, and even those claiming they tried seem oddly — very oddly — keen to deny that they know of (or have even looked for) any evidence that there was any impact.
You’ve been misinformed about what the BBC and NYT articles said. I suggest you read them yourself.
“No one person can order a wiretap in the American government”
That’s a delightfully idiotic statement. The president can order people assassinated by drone, but can’t order surveillance? think about how stupid what you are saying is.
Trump might be a liar but unless he also has a time machine he isn’t responsible for the BBC and NYT articles so your logic is invalid. Trump’s credibility isn’t at issue. The credibility of the security agencies however, certainly is at issue. they too have been lying and slandering their entire lives as it were. it’s their job.
David, fair point. It is getting hard to tell the far Right from parts of the far Left these days.
I should not have said “your GOP double standard prevails,” I should have said “your double standard prevails.”
I also encourage anyone to read the transcript or view Comey’s hearing because it completely refutes your claim vis-a-vis downplaying or dismissing Russian involvement with our elections, which was clearly determined to be true by 17 U.S. intelligence agencies and released in that joint report.
All the rest of your points are dead wrong, as my previous post showed.
Finally, your statement that Trump’s credibility is not at issue in these evidence-free allegations accusing a former president of a major crime is, well, shall we say, ludicrous in the extreme.
Good comment and from the transcript you provided the author of this article should explain THIS part…
So my question as of today, Admiral Rogers, do you have any evidence that Russia cyber actors changed vote tallies in the state of Michigan?
ROGERS: No I do not, but I would highlight we are a foreign intelligence organization, not a domestic intelligence organization. So it would be fair to say, we are probably not the best organization to provide a more complete answer.
NUNES: How about the state of Pennsylvania?
ROGERS: No, sir.
NUNES: The state of Wisconsin?
ROGERS: No, sir.
NUNES: State of Florida?
ROGERS: No, sir.
NUNES: The state of North Carolina?
ROGERS: No, sir.
NUNES: The state of Ohio?
ROGERS: No, sir.
NUNES: So — so you have no intelligence that suggests, or evidence that suggests, any votes were changed?
ROGERS: I have nothing generated by the national security industry, sir.
NUNES: Director Comey, do you have any evidence at the FBI that any votes were changed in the states that I mentioned to Admiral Rogers?
COMEY: No.
I am amused by the incomprehension of some as to why Comey shot down Trump’s false tweet abut the Russians not “influencing” the elections.
The word “influencing” is why Trump’s tweet absolving the Russians was totally false.
The Comey and Rogers comments misinterpreted by Trump and others desperate to hide or somehow obfuscate Russia’s unquestioned role in hacking the DNC and Podesta had nothing to do with those email hacks AT ALL.
They were referring to the claim — which I have never heard anyone seriously level in Democratic or Clinton or Sanders circles — that the Russians actually got into voting machines and changed vote totals. Which nobody I know, including me, believes they did. It is the email hacks of the Democrats that impacted the election strongly that the Russians were found to have been responsible for by the FBI and 16 other agencies.
The inability of people to make that totally obvious and clear distinction, especially by the imbeciles in the Trump administration right up to the imbecile-in-chief, is evidence of basic intellectual comprehension issues either because of true incompetence or blind ideology based reality-distortion.
Which is why Comey destroyed that Trump tweet when it was read back to him, in his dry, offhand way. Funniest moment of Trump’s presidency. Next time these Trump geniuses — his social media director used to be his caddy? — will know to wait until the hearing is over to shovel their bald-faced lies to the credulous.
“Russia’s unquestioned role in hacking the DNC and Podesta”
By ‘unquestioned’, of course, you mean ‘entirely lacking any shred of evidence supporting it, being based on the word of known habitual liars, in contradiction of the most credible journalistic organization on Earth.’
Russia didn’t give WikiLeaks the emails. Anyone still peddling that delusion at these late stages is explicitly hostile to reality.
“By ‘unquestioned’, of course, you mean ‘entirely lacking any shred of evidence supporting it, being based on the word of known habitual liars, in contradiction of the most credible journalistic organization on Earth.’”
No, I mean the Russian hacking of the election is a fact supported by a mountain of evidence and the entire US intelligence apparatus after a lengthy investigation, uncontradicted by any credible journalistic organization and is denied only by Quislings or dupes.
You can read their report right here:
“We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump. We have high confidence in these judgments”
https://www.intelligence.senate.gov/sites/default/files/documents/ICA_2017_01.pdf
What evidence? There is none, plainly and simply. Stop lying.
Our intelligence community has a long and consistent record of being wrong and dishonest about almost everything. WikiLeaks, the most credible journalistic entity on Earth (having never – NEVER – been shown to be wrong or dishonest about ANYTHING), has not only disputed the IC’s delusional conspiracy theories, but also has provided real-world evidence bringing the IC’s unsupported and evidence-free assertions the context they deserve.
Let me know when you have evidence that rises above a Top Men argument predicated on the secret determinations of known liars and charlatans.
Sorry Jeremy, but that “they are all liars” argument just won’t wash. There would have to be dozens even hundreds of “charlatans” across the 17 agencies all pulling together to fake these investigation results in a system which is far more collaborative and connected than in the pre-9/11 days when they barely talked to each other and a rogue group at one place might sift information one way unseen by anybody else. And yes, faking such results would get out — fast.
So let me know when you have any credible refutation of the surfeit of evidence that Putin hacked the election, because right now you’ve got nothing.
You’re actually coming to The Intercept and quoting things from the “fake news” BBC and NYT?
Listen to the ‘Intercepted’ podcast episode with Edward Snowden. Or just do a web search on “XKeyscore”. Trump Tower was definitely being wiretapped because EVERYTHING is being wiretapped!
“No one person can order a wiretap in the American government, ”
LOL. Obama didn’t need to specifically order the wiretap because it was already done. However, if you believe Edward Snowden, any one person in the American government with appropriate security clearance could access the wiretap information.
Right on Milton. Keeping it real…
David Nunes said the NSA and Admiral Rogers is complying with the committees requests.
FBI Director Comey is not. Never cop a plea if you want to get to discovery.
Comey, is that the guy who made a last attempt to discredit Hillary in favour of Trump by publicly declaring new e-mails were uncovered. Is it conceivable he is colluding with the Kremlin ? The Russian must have a solid file on him with compromising material.
“i don’t know nothin’ ’bout nothin'”
James Clapper swore under oath he wasn’t going to lie, much.
Actually congress passed a law a couple years back that allowed govie officials to lie but said lies will be deemed as truth because, Americans can’t handle the truth!!
The dem congressguy Schiff revealed that in a private closed door session with Mr Santa Klaus did testify under oath that he had no knowledge about any wire-tapping or surveillance on Trump Towers. Mr Schiff affirmed Mr Klaus as a credible witness because he gets around. Mr Schiff also told the committee that he had an affadavit from Mr. Klaus as an eye witness to Russian hacking because of Mr Klaus’ “eves dropping” skills.
The CIA refused their subpoena citing national security concerns.
They’re testimony seems designed to try to make both sides happy.
“. . . [FBI Director James] Comey and Michael Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, were asked by Rep. Devin Nunes, the Republican chair of the intelligence committee and a former member of Trump’s transition team, if they had any evidence that Russian hackers had tampered with the counting of votes in the small number of states that swung the electoral college in Trump’s favor. Both men replied that they did not.”
Of course, if we audited every election by recounting all paper ballots by hand as well as conduct forensic investigations of all DREs since they produce no paper ballots, or even just did those 2 things in the 3 states Dr. Jill Stein had requested there be recounts in, we’d be a heck of a lot closer to definitively stating whether or not such a thing did happen or not rather than endlessly arguing back & forth about it ad nauseum.
P.S. Just as a reminder, when someone from the intelligence community talks about their “assessment” of something, the word they should be using is “belief.”

The US interferes in elections all over the world, ALL THE TIME. There should be a reminder of this point every time, just to keep things in perspective.
so… collusion with an enemy is good with you?
thanks for clarifying. Do you mind if I remind you of this point every time you post?
only a moron would not be aware of US political interference in elections in italy, iran, honduras, philippines, far east, central america, south america, africa, egypt, palestine, and the US.
remind any time.
Yes, America bad. Your stance is clear.
To follow your ‘logic’… the US cannot protest, investigate or prosecute interference with our elections and those who collude with adversaries? Is that your takeaway?
That’s some nifty footwork. Very righteous.
Raging Mental Defective,
After yesterday’s hearing any Constitution Loving American supports a thorough PDQ HSCI investigation leading to the identification, prosecution and conviction of every Obama administration official leaking 4th amendment protected communications to the DNC NYT WAPO CNN MSNBC.
Go Trey Go
I think the problem is how the government can prosecute someone for ‘colluding’ with the ‘enemy’ when it does the same thing on a regular basis. President Yanukovic is a democratically elected leader of Ukraine but the US spent up to $5 billion facilitating and coordinating his overthrow by violent rebels and neo-nazis (see the 2014 taped conversations of Obama’s Asst Sec’y of State, Victoria Nuland). This contradicts the US claims that it is illegal to interfere in the electoral process of sovereign, democratic countries. Yet, no criminal investigations were launched, nor was Nuland charged with any wrongdoing.
Similarly, the US sold over $120 billion in arms to Saudi Arabia over the past few years, even after it was revealed that the KSA and Qatar were arming and funding allies of Al Qaeda in Syria (aka Jabhat Fatah al Sham). Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard revealed details when she introduced her “Stop Arming Terrorists Act” earlier this year: “The CIA has long been supporting a group called Fursan al Haqq, providing them with salaries, weapons and support, including surface to air missiles. This group is cooperating with and fighting alongside an al-Qaeda affiliated group trying to overthrow the Syrian government. The Levant Front is another so-called moderate umbrella group of Syrian opposition fighters. Over the past year, the United States has been working with Turkey to give this group intelligence support and other forms of military assistance. This group has joined forces with al-Qaeda’s offshoot group in Syria.”
So, when you talk about ‘collusion with an enemy’, to whom exactly are you directing your comments?
RMD doesn’t get out much.
Teddy Kennedy thought so in 1983. See his “clandestine offer” to assist the Soviets in “dealing with the Republican president”
The US interferes with elections for the other country’s own good.
Russia interferes with elections to subvert democracy.
There is no way the US political system is so dysfunctional that a Trump could have been elected unless it was masterminded by a foreign power.

Still no evidence of anything.
Absence of evidence should not be confused with evidence of absence.
Not sure which legal system applies where you live but in America, absence of incriminating evidence is proof of innocence. Unless, of course, you subscribe to the legal system of the Inquisition or the Salem Witch Trials, et al.
But if you’d like to see evidence of massive amounts of money being donated to a Presidential candidate by the Russians within the last 10 years, how about the $140 million donated to the Clinton Foundation by persons connected to the Russian-owned mining company, Uranium One? In fact, Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State in 2010 when Rosatom (Russian government owned energy giant) purchased majority shares of Uranium One, and the Committee on Foreign Investments approved the transfer of 38,000 acres of uranium rich land in Utah, Wyoming and 2 other States into the hands of Rosatom.
In short, Hillary Clinton personally oversaw the approval of the transfer of America’s largest uranium deposits into the hands of Russia’s energy industrial giant so they can make nuclear weapons with American uranium. And her Foundation made $140 million from contributions by executives from that company.
As you said: “absence of evidence should not be confused with evidence of absence”. But the NSA and its agencies seem to be happily oblivious and unconcerned about any possible influence on the Clintons through such Russian manipulations. Funny how that works, eh? (See the NYT’s article of 23 April 2015, “Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal”: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/24/us/cash-flowed-to-clinton-foundation-as-russians-pressed-for-control-of-uranium-company.html?_r=0)

When you can’t answer an evidence-backed rebuttal, best to keep quiet. Go back to roasting your witches, dear.
I regret my last remark at 11:59 AM and take it back with sincere apologies. There is no justification for making personal attacks like that and I should not have done so. Such remarks add nothing to the discussion nor do they reflect well on the writer. Thank you for your patience and anticipated understanding.
“Clinton Cash” is a pack of lies and innuendo, not reporting.
Ozy, I suggest you stay away from anything supposedly uncovered in the Steve Bannon-funded “Clinton Cash” screed by disgraced Breitbart Editor Peter Schweizer, who has been called a serial fabricator and criminally negligent rumor-monger by a number of his former employee-reporters. He’s a rank propagandist and fake news creator.
His book failed to prove ANY involvement of Clinton in the much larger nine agency review of the Yellowcake deal, which gave gave the State Department just 1/9th of the vote.
The person actually in charge of the review for the State Department said Clinton had made absolutely no preferences or demands known to him during the the approval process:
“Jose Hernandez, who as former Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs was the State Department’s principal representative on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States(CFIUS) rejected the notion that Clinton’s foundation ties had any bearing on the deal. ‘Secretary Clinton never intervened with me on any CFIUS matter,’ he told TIME.”
Schweitzer was forced to admit in numerous interviews that he had zero evidence Clinton intervened to help the deal.
This Week on ABC:
“STEPHANOPOULOS: Do you have any evidence that she actually intervened in this issue?
SCHWEIZER: No, we don’t have direct evidence.”
Furthermore, the entire Uranium deal was from a Bush-Era initiative to promote trade deals with Russia, and was in the works long before Clinton was even there.
Like all the accusations about Clinton The Right floats up like gospel truth, any serious examination quickly shows them to be falsehoods based on innuendo based on the mere hint of contact with or the presence of the Clintons either tangentially or by donors to their foundation who probably can be traced back to 100% of anything in the world by the five degrees of separation junk The Right uses to make false corruption claims.
Trump won’t release his tax returns, his foundation was a self-dealing fake, Trump University was a fraud perpetrated, like his politics, on victimizing his biggest admirers and supporters, and he dealt directly with mobsters. His impetus to get rid of the Alternative Minimum Tax became blindingly clear when we discovered that it was the only thing keeping him from avoiding almost all taxes on his income. Trump is also a sociopathic liar who perpetrates slanders and falsehoods and is now denounced as such by our own government, the FBI, NSA and Congress. He just fired the U.S. Attorney who was investigating his HHS Secretary for insider trading and would have done the same with anything uncovered from Trumpworld. He called for Russian hacks on Clinton during the campaign.
The idea that Clinton could even get into the ballpark with the cynical lying, sleaze, corruption and and moral and ethical degradation of this President is contemptible. Her supposed “crimes” don’t exist and her “lies” are simply twisted and purposeful Right-wing misinterpretations of offhand comments or minor spins.
She is and was a good person who has done a tremendous amount for the country and it is a tragedy that this election was hijacked by the New York FBI — Giuliani’s henchmen — and Putin to elect the worst human being ever to hold the office — by orders of magnitude.
The Right and Putin feared Clinton because they knew how smart, effective and powerful she would be against them. They could not beat her straight up, so they lied, smeared, persecuted in Congress, criminally hacked and hijacked the security apparatus in an unprecedented abuse of our government and democracy to take down a politician. And THAT is the real scandal, not your Breitbart-invented fake news.
In some circumstances it can be safely assumed that if a certain event had occurred, evidence of it could be discovered by qualified investigators. In such circumstances it is perfectly reasonable to take the absence of proof of its occurrence as positive proof of its non-occurrence.

This leaves a lot of wiggle room.
Did they present any evidence?
Robert Mackey
You wrote several articles about the execution of a Palestinian terrorist by an IDF soldier. In your final article, you wrote that thousands of Israelis rallied in support of the IDF soldier (“Thousands of Israelis Rally in Support of Soldier Who Executed Wounded Palestinian”):
While reporting the support for an Israeli soldier in April, 2016 who murdered a Palestinian (militant), you neglected to report that a Palestinian terrorist connected with Hamas ignited a suicide vest on a bus in East Jerusalem in April, 2016 injuring 20 Israelis and killing the suicide bomber. There was no mention of this clear act of terrorism targeting civilians. In a story published by the Jerusalem Post (“Hundreds of Palestinians march in support of Jerusalem bus bombing suspect”), Palestinians celebrated the “young martyr”:
This was the attempted bombing of Israeli civilians. Now comes another report which will likely never see the light of day at the Intercept. Ahmed al-Daqamseh received a hero’s welcome after being released from a Jordanian jail. He murdered seven Israel girls aged 13-14 in 1997:
You have a clear double standard regarding Arab and Israeli murder. When a Palestinian militant is executed after attacking Israeli soldiers, that necessitates several articles including one where the soldier is supported and celebrated by Israelis. In the meantime, you ignore Arab celebrations for the murder of little girls and bus bombings. Do you know what defines terrorism, Mr. Mackey? Must you always treat the Arab slaughter of innocent Jews as the fault of the victim?
Hey bro,
We kinda need to fix our own country now. Let’s call it “the one state solution” and elect a god fearing Christian to lead you.
I’m also taking requests…
“……..We kinda need to fix our own country now. Let’s call it “the one state solution” and elect a god fearing Christian to lead you……..”
If Trump is tossed from office, we’ll have one.
Mr. Mackey
Despite Greenwald’s obsession with McCarthyism, the FBI is correct to investigate possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence. It’s critical for the mental heath of crushed Democrats to thoroughly investigate the Trump campaign team to put this issue behind them. As long as National intelligence stands behind their claim that Russia hacked the DNC emails and passed them to WikiLeaks, the ties between the Trump campaign team and Russian intelligence need to be investigated.
There are a lot of reasons that HRC lost the election, but it is certainly possible that in a close election, the damaging WikiLeaks release of information could have swung the election in favor of Donald Trump. The release (rightly) alienated critical Bernie Sanders voters.
No it didn’t.
We were elated that the facts were out about Hillary.
As usual you are nothing more than a propaganda reflector.

For those of you that actually watched the hearing one or more times next week we’re being promised Clapper, Brennan and Yates. The Republicans kicked ass yesterday and the great thing about it is they’re not putting the constitutional sins of the Obama administration behind us like Obama an the (D) congressional leadership did with the constitutional sins of the Bush administration.
Think about it. Every solid argument we’ve been used against the bipartisan Bush Clinton Obama Feinstein Schumer Pelosi etc. conspiracy to violation your constitutional rights in perpetuity becomes an arrow in the quiver of multiple Republican controlled investigations. Investigations which will target the persons of interest in the Obama administration and the Democratic party specifically.
Every leak be it regarding Roger Stone, Flynn, Manafort, Spicer or the Mexican or Australian Leaders has a 10 years in prison associated with it. Every one of those leaks hurt Republicans. One Washington Post article in February cited 9 “anonymous” sources and Trey Gowdy and Co want every single one. Admiral Mike Rogers said 20 NSA personnel could UNMASK USP IDENTITIES. Jim Comey said most IC department heads could UNMASK USP IDENTITIES.
But…
Edward Snowden?Verified account @Snowden 20h20 hours ago
Red flag: NSA Director careful to discuss only who can unmask USP identities in reporting, not who can access collection involving USPs.
“……..Think about it. Every solid argument we’ve been used against the bipartisan Bush Clinton Obama Feinstein Schumer Pelosi etc. conspiracy to violation your constitutional rights in perpetuity becomes an arrow in the quiver of multiple Republican controlled investigations. I’m a Republican. I haven’t voted for any Democrats in half a century, but if you are depending on the Republicans to suddenly become “principled”, you are living in a dream world. They are the opposition party – so the roles have just reversed from Obama. There is no principle involved assuming you have some. The NSA will continue to press the envelope on “rights” supported by Republicans. The war on terror will become more focused by Trump supported by Republicans. Droning will increase including American citizens where appropriate supported by Republicans. It’s just typical partisan politics and the roles will reverse (in probably less than four years). Even most establishment Republicans opposed Trump to begin with. Only when he became a serious candidate did they hop on board. However, I agree with the Republicans that the leakers need to be identified and prosecuted. They belong in a cell right next to Snowden.
“…if you are depending on the Republicans to suddenly become “principled”, you are living in a dream world. They are the opposition party so the roles have just reversed from Obama.”
I think they like the idea of prosecuting democratic obama administration intelligence community leakers. Do you disagree?
I agree that they might like the idea, but I don’t know whether they plan to actually prosecute or not. Hopefully they will. Regardless, it has nothing to do with principle. It’s partisan. They will do an about face and happily support intelligence leaks where they benefit. In US politics (and probably most other democracies), principle is a secondary consideration.
Your point is well taken.
Okay, fine, but why hasn’t the “news” media also reported ON those leaks (not hacks)? They haven’t ONCE discussed what was IN those leaks. But instead, turned the focus on Wikileaks and Russia?
Doesn’t that seem a BIT suspicious to you? Oh, right, the media was ALSO included in those leaks, showing collusion between them (CNN and MSNBC) and the DNC and Hillary.
But yeah, Russia Ate My Homework!
“……..Okay, fine, but why hasn’t the “news” media also reported ON those leaks (not hacks)? They haven’t ONCE discussed what was IN those leaks. But instead, turned the focus on Wikileaks and Russia?…….”
No question “they” are after Trump. There is no denying that – and it has been the case since Trump became a serious candidate. That includes of course Democrats and the media. Even the Republican establishment opposed Trump. Powerful interests opposed Trump. But Trump’s larger than life mouth has gotten him in trouble on numerous occasions – and still he continues to set himself up to be raked over the coals. It unwise to publicly call the conclusions of (his) national intelligence agencies wrong when you have no clue what you are talking about. And Trump is a chronic liar. How can anyone believe a word that comes out of his mouth? Investigate his ties to Russia because you know his denials don’t mean squat (and I don’t believe there will be a smoking gun).
ahead just 11 days to go, Comey, inexplicably announces an investigation into Clinton. When asked about rumors of a Trump investigation; silence. This cannot be minimized in gauging his influence so close to the election.
“just 11 days to go, Comey, inexplicably announces an investigation into Clinton. ”
Had Hillary released all her emails in the beginning they wouldn’t have found some on Wiener’s laptop.
Had Wiener stopped sexting after his political career tanked because of continuing sexting they wouldn’t have looked at his laptop. I mean, sexting while naked and in bed with your toddler … that’s bound to get some attention.
Why was Hillary’s best friend so tolerant of her husband’s sexual obsession?
Perhaps because she saw what Hillary tolerated from slick Willy.
Sex with young people is Bill Clinton’s leash.
Seems it was Wiener’s leash, too. Where did Schumer find that prick Wiener?
A word from Haim Saban … no Democrat has been allowed into Congress without a leash.
The leash is stamped ‘Israel First’.

Maisie must really be conflicted. The “deep state” apparently is AIPAC pulling the strings in Congress. Mona would buy that argument. Here is what she said about Israel:
We’ll break it to Maisie gently. She is sensitive you know.
Very, very, very important to stop you right there, this is NOT on Clinton, as some are wont to do — this is on the Giuliani’s FBI henchmen in New York.
* Hillary did release all her emails. She removed personal ones no one was entitled to. That is actually not only permitted by the State Department, it was required. Storing work related emails at the time REQUIRED people to delete personal emails from their babysitter or boyfriend or sex toy supplier and save only work-related stuff. They were removed by a couple of her lawyers — not her directly — with security clearances.
* Weiner is a demented idiot of the first order. He also was a charismatic and fearless Democratic fighter especially in the media who could go on Fox News and slice and dice anybody. We don’t have a lot of those. So I can see why Huma fell for the guy. Taking cheap shots at these two women, Hillary and Huma, for loving flawed men and trying to make it work is sexist, mean-spirited and low. I wish Huma had never heard of Weiner, but I don’t blame her for his issues.
* Weiner’s sexting was an utterly minor crime, if it was one at all. His kid was not featured in it, he strayed into the shot accidentally. The FBI had no business doing a major investigation of it. If it were anybody else, they would have laughed it out the door and left it to some local yokels.
* THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: The Giuliani henchmen in the New York FBI used Weiner’s nothing sexting as an excuse to go on a fishing expedition in the desperate hope they could find something, anything to derail Clinton. When they found the duplicate emails they went straight to Comey to force him to announce a re-opening of the investigation, instead of making a quick, confidential check to see if anything was new and warranted such a step. They partially blackmailed Comey with the implied threat to leak it and try to damage or destroy Comey’s and the FBI’s reputations. Comey, who is sui generis and basically a big dumb boy scout, decided he had no choice but to comply.
* Rudy Giuliani had promised this was coming before it even happened. HE is the New York FBI agents lawyer. He knows half of them personally and launched many of their careers. Total right wingers to the core. They used the security apparatus of the State to steal an election, the greatest abuse and crime of this entire election.
Anthony Weiner’s weiner had nothing whatever to do with it. He was just a pretext for an incredible abuse of power, one of the worst in U.S. history. An IG is supposedly investigating this. Lets see what happens.
But I have witnessed far too many people on the left minimizing or missing this thing or worse, blaming it on Hillary or Huma. That is utterly and completely wrong. This is on the New York FBI
and Comey ALL THE WAY.
Obama NEVER should have appointed Comey. That boy scout ended up stealing an election for a monstrosity.
” Taking cheap shots at these two women, Hillary and Huma, for loving flawed men ”
Now that’s funny.
“Weiner’s sexting was an utterly minor crime, if it was one at all. His kid was not featured in it, he strayed into the shot accidentally. ”
Incidental, in other words. Still very juvenile. Maybe he was looking for a babysitter while his wife looked for someone to take care of their child for short periods of time.
I see you failed to engage with the enormously important issues the misuse by the New York FBI of the Weiner case represents and choose to live in the land of snark instead. Your choice.
Comey’s still fibbing, so to speak. He’s in no position to rule out who has or hasn’t been wiretapped. I say this the same affection for Trump that I reserve for herpes.
The FBI might not have wiretapped Trump, but they wouldn’t have been the ones to do it even if this absurd charge proves true (targetted tap as opposed to be the big sucking vacuum we all know is happening to everyone). This only matters for those who still might be inclined to treat Comey’s word as something approximating, well, not lying.

Whistleblower Katharine Gun, do you recall her?

“GCHQ accepted orders from the NSA to UK was being asked to collaborate in an operation to find out personal information that could be used to blackmail UN delegates, ”
“The memo from Frank Koza, chief of staff at the “regional targets” section of the National Security Agency, GCHQ’s sister organisation in the US, remains shocking in its implications for British sovereignty. Koza was in effect issuing a direct order to the employees of a UK security agency to gather “the whole gamut of information that could give US policymakers an edge in obtaining results favourable to US goals or to head off surprises”.”
Every one of the Five Eyes can spy on eachothers domestic populations to avoid constitutional restrictions for fun and profit. Domestically the FBI can identify everyone the social and business circles of a single target. Then the FBI and/or their proxys deploy those GCHQ (Fire the Judge) JTRIG tactics to erroneously include foreign persons of interest in their communications tree if none are there already. It only takes ONE FOREIGN COMMUNICATION from Mustafa, Boris, Li Ping or you buddy Joe in Singapore to turn you into a subject of interest to the CIA. At that point the FBI deploys the Stingrays and the CIA deploys those VAULT 7 tactics on all your devices to own them from the root and see what you AND EVERYONE YOU KNOW sees in real time on every device.
Yes there were a number of direct lies made during the testimony and by the grandstanding politicians in their questions. These lies seem like background to the whole mess. What were some other examples….. the president cannot order surveillance on anyone was one……
Since the communications of everyone in the world (eg Flynn) are collected and stored and retrieved when it suits the ‘intelligence’ community, how could it be that Trump was the only one NOT spied on?

excellent point
It is unbelievably smart for Trump. Everyone on the left wants to throw Trump under the bus, instead, Trump is directing a subject or subjects to have the left battles on mass media daily, on subject that no one can approve or disapprove. US boots are on the ground in Syria, coordinates with Russian to beat ISIS, AQAP. , cut entitlements, Secretary of States is smiling face with Chinese, skip NATO to meet with Russian, get money from Saudi, Japan. In a word, he doesn’t give a hoop what the left thinks, and he has a full agenda for the next four year. I am impressed, I don’t think the left can derail any of his major plans by crying babies. Because the left can stop talking about the past.
It is impressive how Trump feeds the media with intelligence stories and with migrant degres. They yell and tear, while important things are carried out, without the MSM even knowing what happens there.
The Intercept included!
I will not talk about/refer to/ view Trump tweets! Who cares, he isn’t going to understand much, he is a rich celebrity right! So are we now supposed to think Comey is anything but a distraction, and this ‘investigation’ anything but a sham?! The newest distraction from Wikileaks Vault 7. I mean didn’t documents reveal a menu of cyber war tools, telling us that it could be anyone stealing parts of codes from all kinds of global hackers? My encapsulation of this story is: Trump is a dumb liar, I usually read better from TI. Why not a story on Vault 7?
…Comey has no testosterone within his scrotal sac. We saw that during the Clinton investigation which was really more like a digital probe with no consequences/proof presented. That would require ACTION and we know that was going nowhere, since the Clinton- wing of the double secret CIA within the CIA is/was in love with her global devastation strategy . Thus he is a jealous leader determined to out shine her w/ his own super colossal global devastation package.
A Vault 7 story. That certainly seems like a natural for Glenn, Laura or Jeremy.
Perhaps given your resources you could have someone check the Snowden Archives while someone else make a few calls to confirm or deny the existence of an alleged NSA program called “Operation Dragnet”.
You guys know how to contact Wikileaks. You guys know how to contact Dr Corsi Three Time NYT award winning writer on the US Intel Community. You guys have the Snowden archives. Is there or has there aver been an NSA program called “Operation Dragnet. Pretty simple question for an organization with the right resources and rolodex.

Trump should be impeached on the grounds of being to stupid to back up his claims. Really a president uses breitbart, and fox (un)news as evidence, how dumb can this president be. Time for this charade to end.
You should be impeached for the misuse of the word “too”. That or your chopping off the “o” bodypart makes you a word terrorist.
The FBI is long past any pretense of being a Constitutional entity. Remember Jean Seberg-the actress they stalked to death in 1979 in a brutal decades long hate campaign?

They ARE the pus that fills the Washington swamp, and anywhere else they show up. Drain ’em, Donald.
I should be used to it by now, but it still blows me away how their tweets and responses directly contradict what actually was said and what happened. They simply make up their own reality, as if no one is going to notice.
This truly is Winston Smith territory, and most will remember that Winston’s job at the Ministry of Truth in Orwell’s 1984 was to rewrite the days events to reflect what Big Brother wanted; to literally deny that the true events of the day had happened, and insert the Party’s own alternative reality as directed.
That’s just one in a load of parallels between today’s reality and that classic book’s hopeless world, but it may be the hardest to deal with. Scary.
It doesn’t matter that people notice. In the age of the self imposed echo chamber, it is only important to reinforce the narrative that his supporters have already accepted.
Unfortunately, that’s true. It’s easy imagining Trump’s supporters up early each day all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, smartphones at the ready, awaiting their infallible leader’s infantile tweets so they’ll know what to think. Sad…
And once this Russia stuff is found to be the utter nonsense I suspect it will be, will there be an apology from Washington to the Russians for calling them out on activities the US does with impunity and no US political/media scrutinty let alone the current unhinged hystreria? Pigs might fly….

Short a tearful confession on RT, Trump confirms his involvement when he makes this pathetic attempt to redirect attention.
Not quite a confession, but certainly an indirect admission of guilt.
Since there’s no #crookedHillary appeal now, Trump heads for the last refuge of the scoundrel.
Patriotism.
No doubt the owners are blackballing Kaepernick. That’s because he is an average quarterback. However, if he was a superstar, they would be jumping at the opportunity to sign him. As it is, why take on that trouble for someone who just isn’t that good? In my opinion, he is still better than a lot of back-ups and some starters in the NFL.
I didn’t mind when the Russians annexed Crimea, and it didn’t bother me when they hacked the DNC servers but I draw the line at them stealing Tom Brady’s Superbowl jersey.
Not the first time:

it’s a $25 carwash rag, overpriced at that.
Any Government or Party that doesn’t abide by the Constitution does not deserve our respect or support ! ! ! They are traitors !
So the Democrats get a foreign Allie spy agency GCHQ, to spy on the Republican candidate Donald Trump while the Republicans get a foreign adversary, the Russians, to spy on the Democrats . Maybe it is time to not vote for either of these CRIMINAL organizations, but to vote for Independent candidates instead .
Remember this date 11-07-2018 election day, the time to take revenge on all Republican & Democratic Fascist in Congress, by sending them a message they can’t ignore & will understand . Remove all support they may have in the CORPORATE Congress ! ! !
Time to start removing the corporate Congress from office & defunding the NSA & the Police Surveillance state, to pre 9-11 levels & force them to comply with the law & impose jail time for non compliance under USC Title 18 Sec. 241 & 242 (Google it) .
Only after the members of our 3 branches of Government, both Republicans & Democrats who conspired in this criminal conspiracy & violated the Constitution are prosecuted, should Mr. Snowden be charged with a crime. Prosecute those who broke the law first, in chronological order, then the Government can get around to Mr Snowden !
This Should be a join effort by all dissatisfied Democrats, Republicans & Independents
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Albert Einstein
“Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.”
Benito Mussolini
Remember the US Government is owned & controlled by Corporate America & only you can change that by who you vote for ! Throw the Bums out of office !
Lock him up.

Your American politics is a real gong show! I think Americans (at least American politicians) want to deliberately start a war with Russian and hope that they come out as the last man standing so to speak. Well, it ain’t gonna happen. They are going to kill everyone. In fact, they’ve been trying to kill everyone since WWII – Korea, Iran, Vietnam, Panama, Guatemala, Yemen, Iraq, Libya, Syria – to name but a few, are all American led wars of aggression. How many can you name for Russia?
And the, mostly liberal, MSM all push this propaganda, not only to the American people, but to all Western nations. I for one, do not want to die for some stupid American politician, who promote lies for their own good. It’s certainly not good for the people of the world who are held hostage by a rogue nuclear nation. I say enough already.
Do the American people not understand that they have been duped? Ed Snowden, who is portrayed as a traitor, had the courage to come forward to tell people that their government is lying to them – that their government listens to everything they do and monitors them constantly. And do they listen – no! They’d rather argue about a gender- neutral bathroom!
Snowden has said that the NSA monitors everything. Therefore, don’t people think that Trump was being listened to? They were evening listening in to the German chancellor’s phone calls! And I’d give pretty good odds that they were also spying on Obama and Hillary.
What about Vault 7 from Wikileaks? More evidence the government is spying on you. How much evidence do Americans need to convince themselves? But they don’t care. They are only interested in which Kardashian has the bigger arse.
It’s time for the American people to take back their Constitution. For the sake of the rest of the world.
Any rational person knows, if the Democrats weren’t trying to subvert the Democratic primary to get their crooked flunky nominated, sharing their emails would not have been a problem. But, they did…..and they lost. Lesson learned. Hopefully.
Now we are getting somewhere.
James Comey just announced there is a full-on investigation of just how far and wide the Russian interference with and attack on our democracy was. And who was behind it or collaborated with it in Russia, at Wikileaks, and, perhaps, here in America.

1) Putin’s unquestioned role in helping steal the election by criminally hacking Podesta and the DNC. An attack that wrought incredible, incalculable harm on America, Democrats, progressives and their values.
2) Trumpworld’s connections to — and potential collusion or collaboration with — the above actions. To be determined. But if any in Trumpworld even simply said “attaboy” to Russian contacts about going after Hillary, that would be enough to potentially bring Trump down. Whether it rose to active collaboration and collusion, we shall see.
It is time to put all of these Trump people under oath and make them answer under fear of perjury and jail time if they lie. We need to know everything. Comey, for all his incredible faults, will be a bulldog about this.
So finally, the Election 2016 Hack/Trump-Russia Connection show is on the road. That particular struggle is behind us, and it was a big one. Now the real investigative work begins.
However, we can say this: Putin’s guilt is unquestioned. And any man who criminally helped to elect Trump is an enemy to progressives anywhere and everywhere. That is as obvious as it gets. Anyone saying otherwise is a Quisling or a dupe.
“Putins unquestioned role in helping steal the election by criminally hacking Podesta and the DNC”? Really? Unquestioned? I’ve been waiting for months for some actual evidence that the Russians were behind that. I’m sure I’m not the only person that needs more than someone saying “yeah they prolly done it” to unquestionably accept it. Lol, you’re a paid commenter I bet. That’s cool gotta make a living I guess.
C’mon man, they stood by their earlier “assessment”, isn’t that good enough for you? Me neither.
I’m sure your friends think your willful ignorance is cute.
“look at Billy!”
“what did he say?”
“oh…that Billy!.. .he’s just so cute!”
Willful ignorance? Waiting to see some evidence still. You a fawning over how cute I am and wanting to lick old blue head for me. Doesn’t show me any evidence. I appreciate your lustful comments though.
Shhh. Contact me off list. I found my Larry Craig mask.
Why thank you very much for the comment. I’m glad you’re still sweet on me. I was afraid I was a little to crude for your taste. All is good I see. Awesome!
not surprised at your deliberate misreading… that’s what geniuses like you do; take something and twist it out of its original shape, turn it into something unrecognizable from the truth and stand proudly waving at your invention.
evidence.
take a look in your fucking mirror for the evidence you require.
Of course there will be a comprehensive declassified report detailing all the things that verify Putin’s involvement when the investigation wraps up. Hopefully by not just Comey and the FBI, but by a dedicated Congressional select committee or special prosecutor. Obviously they have to be careful not to do so in a manner that reveals some intel tricks or secrets of our own.
But we do know Putin was behind this. They left plenty of evidence in the Guccifer 2.0 leak and the direct connections to the GRU. Make no mistake, Putin attacked our democracy and played a key role in electing Trump.
From the 17 Intel agencies investigating the election hack:
The U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations. The recent disclosures of alleged hacked e-mails on sites like DCLeaks.com and WikiLeaks and by the Guccifer 2.0 online persona are consistent with the methods and motivations of Russian-directed efforts. These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the US election process. Such activity is not new to Moscow—the Russians have used similar tactics and techniques across Europe and Eurasia, for example, to influence public opinion there. We believe, based on the scope and sensitivity of these efforts, that only Russia’s senior-most officials could have authorized these activities.

“They left plenty of evidence in the Guccifer 2.0 leak and the direct connections to the GRU.”
Yah, they were incredibly incompetent to leave all those clues. Unbelievable.
The whole “17 intelligence agency” talking point is hard to buy. I have doubts that all 17 agencies would have devoted resources to investigate email leaks. Even if they did out of 17 agencies I’d think at least one of them would’ve produced something besides “we think they did it” for evidence. Until they do I’ll be as skeptical of them as I was when they made the WMD in Iraq assessments.
Probably four or five agencies did the most work on the investigation, but they all considered it and weighed in on it. One of the big post 9/11 changes was to make sure all agencies were either taking part in major investigations or aware of them and critiquing them so everyone was on the same page.
The reason I don’t see this as a WMD thing is that this is much more straightforward and they aren’t busy confabulating evidence out of nothing. We all saw the criminal hack and the fingerprints that came with it. Private cybersecurity experts picked up on Russian elements as well. This was Putin.
LOL! I agree and I’d really like to see that report from the Coast Guard, they have a history of being focused on things like the hacking of emails, plus they have an office on each boat dedicated to such things! (s)
While you guffaw that the Coast Guard is part of the United States Intelligence Community (USIC) (and why wouldn’t it be?), let’s just review a few of the other entities that are part of it, and see if you think they’re just as funny.
Incomplete list of USIC Agencies that determined Putin was behind the hacks of the DNC and Clinton campaign:
Defense Intelligence Agency
National Reconnaissance Office
National Security Agency
Intelligence and Security Command United States Army
Office of Naval Intelligence
Twenty-Fifth Air Force
Marine Corps Intelligence
Office of Intelligence and Analysis
Central Intelligence Agency
Bureau of Intelligence and Research
Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence
Federal Bureau of Investigation
Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence
Interesting, I don’t hear you laughing anymore.
We already had a declassified report. It had nothing.
We had a classified report too. The DNI, an enemy of trump’s said he knew of no evidence of any of this crap.
You’re being had.
I may be committing a crime but I gotta say, Putin is one bad motherfucker. He was born in Russia, cannot speak English, never been to America except for short visits, and the guy knows the American political and electoral culture and processes better than the democrats to such an extent he personally got a clown elected to the Oval Office.
No crime to be wrong. Putin was a lifelong KGB man, extremely well-educated and trained about America and her political system. He can understand and speak English when he chooses. He is also a very canny autocrat and politician himself. And he has been interfering with western democracies for years on all sorts of levels, from outright espionage to supporting nationalist parties, to embarrassing politicians with hacks and scandals.
One of the key ways he was able to elect Trump was to do what a smart manipulator does with opposition: tries to split it by sewing within it the seeds of dissension. In Clinton’s case, his leaks succeeded in creating the false impression that there was some plot or structure that sabotaged Bernie Sanders campaign. And American’s tendency to let emotional theories run away with them, especially after a real disappointment like Bernie not winning, do the rest.
In fact, there was no plotting, and Bernie Sanders, to his credit, refused to play along. So did most Bernie voters. But enough were turned off by that to either sit out the election or vote for a third party candidate that it played a key role in electing Trump. Not the only role, but a key role. In that election, doing anything but voting for the only party of the left that can elect a president was absolutely a vote for Trump. So if you voted for Jill Stein, you were electing Trump.
The Russian hacks were criminal and unfair. And they played a key role in electing the anti-progressive abomination we have in the White House.
Your last paragraph reminds me of what Karl Malden said to Marlon Brando in the film ‘One eyed jacks’.. “We are going to give you a fair trial, then we are going to hang you”.
my reply to Cary above refers to his comment at 12-20 am
“We are going to give you a fair trial, then we are going to hang you”.
I love the quote, but it applies to what was done to Hillary Clinton by the Right, a supine and lazy media, and the FBI, not in my judgment of Putin’s involvement with hacking the DNC and cavorting with Trumpworld associates, which are both already known and proven.
Feel free to look at the January 6th release by the American intelligence community concluding with high confidence that the Russians were behind the criminal hacks of the DNC and Podesta. All the evidence is there. Putin’s role in all this is unquestioned.
https://www.intelligence.senate.gov/sites/default/files/documents/ICA_2017_01.pdf
It was all 17 agencies to boot. Imagine how solid the evidence must be for all 17 agencies to align their views.
Indeed. Lots of those agencies are stuffed with conservatives who would not have any need or desire to do the Clinton’s any favors, yet the evidence was so clear they had no problem signing off on the conclusions the evidence pointed to Russian hacking. A review process on that, especially something that major, must be grueling.
absolute horse maneure – just another thieving wallstreet media conjob.
another yellow-cake fraud. Russia is the new WMD. What a total croc of crap.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCGW033-82c
the murder of Seth Rich, who benefitted more than the DNC & CIA?
Lots of people with sense think the entire Russian conspiracy theory is bunk. This is the same gang that brought you WMDs in Iraq. They are professional liars. At least with the WMD thing they came up with faked evidence like the yellowcake and the antrhrax and the supergun and the Winnebagos of death. This time around the only thing they’ve suggested as “evidence” of even the hacking let alone any email dump, is tell tale hacker stuff that the next day we find out the CIA fakes as evidence so routinely that to save time they have made a little program to insert the fake evidence it was Russia for them at the push of a button.
The WMD story was 100 times more credible and people with sense still saw it for what it was.
LOL
And any man who criminally helped to elect Trump is an enemy to progressives anywhere and everywhere.???
COMPARED TO WHAT?
a 2-faced wallstreet whore who wanted to sell the sovereignty of the US to a band of wallstreet thieves?
i can sympathise with your disdain for the T. But please also provide a little balance here.
thanks.
Infantile leftism was a defect Lenin described well in one his his essays.
Here is a case in neon lights.
* Can’t tell the difference between a center-left politician who supports efforts to end global warming, appoint left-leaning Supreme Court justices, green energy, increased auto mileage requirements, health care for the poor, aid to cities and communities, rural support programs, women’s access to abortions and birth control, etc and a far right sociopathic billionaires who is proceeding to rape America and the planet with the total destruction of the EPA, HHS, Health care for the poor, rural hospitals, wall street regulations and installs 1%ers an billionaires to half the cabinet to rule us directly.
If he can’t get 100%, he hates the lady who agrees with him 80% of the time, and thus elects the clown who agrees with him 10% of the time. Cutting the throat of minorities and people on the frontlines, but probably not reaching the white privileged perch of this super leftist hero and purist.
Give me a break. Any progressive who failed to vote for the only left party that can elect a President in 2016 was either a Quisling or a dupe.
It was probably unnecessary for Obama to order a wiretap on Trump as he was
probably under surveillance in any case. The question that should be asked is, was Trump wire-tapped and did Obama know he was wire-tapped?
That question would have not been answered either and it’s irrelevant.
Trumps old fashion wire tap comment was poor choice of words. To describe the surviellance by the IC. Since few people even use the old landline system that required physical tapping to listen in. Of course he was survielled. That’s why the overboard faux shock and denial is going on. They had a transcript of Flynn’s conversation. Why would they only listen to his phone calls and not the rest of their political opposition?
The lying whores that occupy congress are very clever and would NEVER ask a question that would reveal the truth. They also INSIST that their spouses lie to them about how much they are loved. Their children will “grow up” to be professional liars as well.
an issue floating away into the zone of influenced, with no provable influence
the smoking russia gun is a vape toy for deluded info-crackheads
Who needs Charlie Chaplin when you’ve got Comey, Clinton, and Trump?
I watched the whole thing live.
It was a dog and pony show so that grandstanding Senators could take turns running various attack narrative about Russia and Trump.
It was all show no go.
It was an exercise in propaganda and nothing more.
Believe their show if you want, so many who shouldn’t will anyway.
It was the house intelligence committee, so they weren’t senators. If you don’t even know that. Then you have no clue about anything.
Any supporting docs for the NSAs PROJECT DRAGNET boys…
New NSA Whistleblower. In larry klayman sheriff arpaio case. Have tried to post NSA Project Dragnet support docs to four sites. @ Emptywheel and Techdirt the messages about the NSAs “Project Dragnet” (one each, brief, two links) were posted successfully and then removed by “an invisible hand” in real time as I watched (now you see them now you don’t).
Anybody have any posting problems here today. Looks like it’s been unusually quiet.
In my experience this means “they” are in crisis management and “you” are doing something right. More to follow. I hope.
Should be easy to generate some reliability stats for tweets from Trump’s personal account and from POTUS.
Sample 200 or so tweets at random and figure out how many of them are significantly untrue or misleading.
I’d imagine the POTUS account is mostly reliable — perhaps 80%; Trump’s personal account is maybe 50% reliable.
Anything less than about 98% reliability for an official twitter feed like POTUS suggests ignorance and incompetence, and tells us that they must always be doubted.
Comey:
Could an individual in the US view electronic surveillance of anyone?
Could an individual in the US receive electronic surveillance from a country outside the US?
Has GCHQ an MOU regarding intelligence sharing with US intelligence agencies?
Thanks Director Comey in advance for your complete answer.
Any evidence?
These committee’s sure do hold a handful these days. Just not sure what their hands are full of?
Fail
Probable cause of criminal activity.
Quid pro quo. Russia provides intel, Trump negotiates for removal of sale of defensive arms to Ukraine.
Money, loans, laundering, Real Estate investments.
Lying under oath.
Undeclared agent for foreign governments.
….has a nice ‘fake’ smell to it, right?
look! over there! it’s a democrat!
Hey Trump fans, your guy is going down.
Evidence or it didn’t happen.
HAH! Just like in real life guy.
my list was exceedingly short, incomplete.
If you have been paying even nominal attention, there was probable cause of crime(s) justifying an investigation, one whose findings continue to unpack the previously secreted conduct of both the Trump campaign and his staff.
There is abundant evidence at this moment. You’re likely aware of it, if you’re not functionally impaired and required to deny as per your contract.
Exxon Mobil’s guy interested in oil/gas drilling exploration?
in exchange for rewriting the Republican Presidential campaign platform?
Arms?
Intel and compromat, hacked emails to discredit a common opponent?
Not to be outdone, our deal Comey placing his ass on the scales to tip the election?
Failure to disclose ongoing investigation of a Presidential candidate while simultaneously going forward to disclose same of another?
I think even stupifyingly obtuse individuals can see something foul at work here.
I share your schadenfreude but not your optimism.
Between our public indisputable knowledge and the handcuffs, billions of dollars (see the Mercers and Putin), rightwing media, hidden Russian support, Republican control of the legislatures, the lingering, ubiquitous slanders of anyone who offers evidence, and the chattering need for absolute, incontrovertible evidence, the consequences are not clear at all.
Trump supporters will remain as deaf, blind, and ideological as they were before the election.
Watch the comments.
Milton… I do believe procedures for examination and investigation can be effective… and I note with some satisfaction that they are taking place.
re: commenters? who can account for the unthinking obeisance to ideology and axe grinding on the part of posters. Sock puppets are another category.
I am no Trump supporter but you look like a Clinton supporter. Have you noticed that Russians paid her and her philandering husband some huge sums of money, in the order of magnitude larger than to any other US politician? Moreover, for the “support the troops” crowd the well-known fact of Saudis “contributing” huge amount of money – in the tens of millions of US dollars – to Clintons (while your missus was in charge of the State Dept.) makes the perfidious democrats’ accusations re “Russian connections” laughable. Was it Russian government that “has disposed” with Sanders, despite an enormous support of the US electorate for him? Was it Russian government that made Wiener to collect certain curious information on a computer that should have never been in the hands of outsiders? Was it Russian choice to put Huma next to Hillary, so that the Muslim Brotherhood could always have a sympathetic ear at the State Dept? Your bloody Clintons -whether in the former Yugoslavia or in the destroyed Libya – have been working overtime to satisfy mega-war profiteers and banksters. And now you and likes are howling about some Russian influence that allegedly made the US electorate vote against Clintons! This is rich. Do you know which country has indeed the unordinary influence on the US policies? Could you name this country without loosing your job and becoming accused of antisemitism? The previous administration has saddled the US populace with three more wars (as compared to Bush the lesser) and with a dangerous conflict in Ukraine (where the US went to bed with neo-Nazis, no less), and the Dems have a nerve (and lunacy) to insist that the universal dislike of Clinton is the result of Russian influence. By the way, where is the gold extracted from the country where “we came, we saw, he died” has happened on the direction of ziocons?
I doubt many Trump fans read the intercept. Because people are aware that both parties are corrupt as hell. And don’t buy the convienent “Russians done it” distraction from the email leaks. Doesn’t make anyone Trump fans. I don’t care personally, I’ve been called antisemite, racists and a lot worse. Ha ha it’s great to be lumped in with my fellow humans.
not reading the Intercept, COMMENTING on the Intercept, like an extension of a stated election strategy
http://www.cnbc.com/2016/10/27/heres-who-trump-is-targeting-for-his-voter-suppression-operations.html
In other words the reason usernames/posts like yours target this site is because the majority of the readers ARENT Trump supporters.
You are here to go after criticism of Trump and try to render it null and void, not to argue he’s a good guy,( I mean beyond being a contrarian for stealth chicken troll)
As long as Trump serves the fantasies of the Sadist Republican Party he’ll get this service, If they ever decide he isn’t useful anymore they’ll kick him to the curb and I’m sure he knows that.
And just so you know, saying “both parties are corrupt” doesn’t give you pr anyone elses comments some kind of thoughtful or non-Republican legitimacy. It jumps out that you’re just repeating a sentiment that you think will make you a friend to the people you want to discourage from finding fault in your party that has absolute power.
Lol, you sound like the “Obama’s a Muslim that was born in Kenya” crowd. Only you’re from the other side. Different mental programmers programmed you. But you’re still programmed. If you would look past your Trump hatred you’d see how ridiculous your comment is. Though Trump is hard not to hate.
sorry. I don’t speak buffoon… try to get someone to translate
Test.
