Hunt Technical Literature Award and the Norbert H. Szymanowski Team Award for the year 2003. (l-r) Charles Berlin (SID Chief of Staff), (Team Leader for the MOC Mission Management Team - Szymanowski Award Winner), (Hunt Award Winner), and (CA President). (U//FOUO) The Master of Ceremonies was Collection Association President, , who is also the Chief, Radio Frequency Operations, and the guest speaker was Mr. Charles H. Berlin, SIGINT Directorate Chief of Staff. Honored guests were Mrs. William Hunt, Sr., Mr. William Hunt, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Norbert H. Szymanowski, (Mr. Szymanowski's daughter and son-in-law). (U) welcomed the winners and guests and provided a short introduction on the histories of the Collection Association's Hunt and Szymanowski awards. Also, expressed the loss felt by the Collection Association and the intelligence community on the passing of Mr. William Hunt, Sr. in October 2003 at the age of 86 years. (See the biographies of William H. Hunt, Sr. and the Norbert H. Szymanowski .) (U) At each year's ceremony, it has been a tradition to ask Mr. William Hunt, Sr. and Mr. Norbert H. Szymanowski to say a few words to the audience before their awards are presented. This year, Mr. William Hunt, Jr. stood in for his father and relayed to the audience his father's pride in this award and the pleasure each year that Mr. Hunt Sr. felt in attending the ceremonies. He thanked the Collection Association for continuing to honor his father with this award each year and he recognized the winners for their efforts in achieving this award with their outstanding technical literature. Mr. Norbert H. Szymanowski spoke of his respect for Mr. William Hunt, Sr. during his time at the agency and the years after their retirements. He finished by recognizing the achievement of the team receiving his award. (U//FOUO) Mr. Berlin, along with Mrs. Hunt, Mr. William Hunt, Jr. and presented the Hunt Technical Literature Award 2003 to , S2S3, NSAW. The 1st Runner-up, Mr. Lance C. Deviney , Yakima Research Station was unable to attend. received a citation certificate and $200 U. S. Savings bond and Mr. DeViney will received a citation certificate and $100 U. S. Savings bond. (U//FOUO) Then, Mr. Berlin, Mr. Szymanowski, and presented the 2003 Norbert H. Szymanowski Team Award to the Meade Operations Center Mission Management Team . Team members received a citation certificate and the team's organization received a plaque to display in area of choice. (U) The ceremony was ended with presenting flowers to Mrs. William Hunt, Sr. and to Mrs. Norbert H. Szymanowski. Then award winners were asked to come to the front again to allow the audience members a chance to congratulate them personally. All were asked to stay for refreshments.
