DENL5111, Class #7108, Section #02, FY2004 8 July, Thursday, 1000-1200, Friedman Auditorium (U//FOUO) The office of SIGINT Policy, Congressional Issues and Intelligence Security, S02L, cordially invites you to attend a presentation on Denial and Deception (D&D) issues of concern to the Intelligence Community (IC) by Dr. Larry Gershwin, the National Intelligence Officer for Intelligence Assurance and Chairman of the Foreign Denial and Deception Committee (FDDC). If you want to know how the Vice President, the Secretary of Defense, and the DCI feel about D&D and how you fit into the Intelligence Community/NSA D&D equation, don't miss this presentation. (U) Course Description (S) Dr. Gershwin will discuss with NSA senior leaders and managers the Director of Central Intelligence's (DCI) strategy for countering denial and deception. He will discuss media disclosures, espionage, foreign intelligence exchanges, and demarches that have all led to the erosion of US intelligence capabilities against weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, and other intelligence problems. He will address what you can do as a senior intelligence official to ensure that Intelligence Community research and development, collection, analysis, training and counterintelligence and security counters adversarial denial and deception. (C) Come learn about your role in combating foreign denial and deception: the methodologies adversaries use to inhibit our intelligence efforts or feed us false information. (S) DENIAL: Methods and means of protecting state and military secrets and of preventing or impairing US intelligence collection and analysis that targets those secrets. (U) DECEPTION: Measures designed to mislead by manipulation, distortion, or falsification of evidence to induce the US to react in a manner prejudicial to its interests. (U) Credit (S) Since this is an Executive Leadership course, credit will be given to all who attend . You will also help NSA meet one of the DCI's training criteria milestones for executives in the IC by attending.
