(U//FOUO) On Tuesday, 19 July 2005 the SINIO Council and the National Cryptologic School are
pleased to present the 6th in a series of Strategic Intelligence Issue Seminars for the Summer
2005. " Overview of the 'New and Improved' National Intelligence Warning System (NIWS) and
the Defense Indications & Warning System (DIWS) " will be presented by the SINIO for
Warning, Mr.
on Tuesday, 19 July from 11:30 to 13:00 in room 2E099.
Advance registration is required.

class number 7534 using Peoplesoft. Enrollment will be first come, first served. In case of
difficulties with Peoplesoft an email can be sent to Roland Recker (

Course Overview:
(U//FOUO) "Warning is everybody's business" but what are the strategic warning processes
used by the Intelligence Community? Discussion will cover players, philosophies, functions and
publications of the National Intelligence Warning System (NIWS)--with emphasis on some
fundamental changes currently being implemented by the National Intelligence Officer (NIO) for
Warning--as well the Defense Indications & Warning System (DIWS). Special attention will be
given to NSA's roles and responsibilities in each system.
