(U) This 3-day seminar will consider the relationship between security and development before,
during, and after conflict. It will examine the question of the relationship between poverty,
conflict, and terrorism. It will draw upon the latest information from the ongoing "greed or
grievance" debates and consider the issues of resources as facilitating protracted conflict. The
growing literature on corporate involvement and responsibility for internal conflict will be
discussed. It will also consider the types of incentives necessary to move beyond conflict to a
political economy of peace building.
