SEMESTER’s Over — Let’s Do TexMex: New GCHQ Tools for Sharing Transcripts

SUMMARY

As part of Signals Intelligence Director Richard Quirk’s vision to transition the close U.K.-U.S. collaboration to “Need to Share, not Need to Know,” a new tool dubbed “TexMex” allows analysts at the NSA and GCHQ to share transcripts of intercepted communications. The tool, a replacement for the Unix-based “SEMESTER” tool, will be demonstrated at the upcoming Analysis and Production conference.
