Devices (IED) Summit - 5 June 2006
(S) The Office of Central and Southwest Asia and the NGA Improvised Explosive Device (IED)
Team will host an NGA IED Analyst summit, June 5 (0830-1630), the 6th floor auditorium, the
Washington Navy Yard. NGA analysts and scientists investigating IED issues in any capacity are
invited to attend and present briefings regarding intelligence or tradecraft issues.
(S) The Department of Defense has identified IEDs as one of the most significant, deadly threats
to the warfighter. In response, the intelligence community has been tasked with devising
innovative and effective methods with which to detect and destroy the IED threat. The NGA IED
Analyst Summit will focus on applying GEOINT to IED issues.
(S) The summit will provide an environment of open dialogue to share analytical techniques and
to consider and discuss possible new means by which to apply GEOINT to IED issues. It is hoped
that the summit will result in greater intra-agency analytical discussion and coordination,
enabling the efficient dissemination of valuable counter-IED GEOINT products.

(S) The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's (NGA) Iran Community of Practice (ICOP) will
be hosting the third, annual Iran Days Conference at NGA Dulles North from 6-7 June 2006. The
theme of this year's conference is "Iran: Addressing Intelligence Gaps." The conference is open
to NGA, Intelligence Community (IC) partners, and customers. The goal of the conference is to
provide a forum for working-level discussions and to exchange information.

discussions and to exchange information about Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, and Egypt.
