MD will address " The Immune System: How We Respond to External
Threats " on June 29, 2006 from 1:00-2:00 in the OPS2B 4118-3 conference room.

(U) The immune system is a critical component in human health. Understanding how this
complex system works gives insight into the patterns of spread of infectious disease, such as
avian influenza, as well as into potential methods to control disease. Dr.
will give a basic
introduction to the human immune system, followed by a question and answer session.
(U) Dr.
is the Chief Medical Officer for NSA. He has a wealth of experience in Clinical and
Executive medicine and recently transferred to NSA from the F Edward Hebert School of
Medicine in Bethesda, MD. At the University,
was the Division Director, Environmental
and Occupational Medicine where he supervised several research efforts and was an associate
professor of preventive medicine with primary teaching responsibilities in Clinical Toxicology and
Human Physiology. Dr.
is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, has had
multiple operational and clinical assignments in the Air Force and accomplished his medical
residency training at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD.
