The Israel-Hizballah Crisis — Perspectives from an Acting SLO Tel Aviv (part 1)

SUMMARY

An NSA employee describes working as the agency's liaison to the ISNU (Israel SIGNIT National Unit) during the 2006 hostilities between Israel and Hizballah. As the war pushed ISNU "to the technical and resource limits," the agency demanded a great deal of support and information from their American counterparts. This included geolocation data that could be used in targeted killings, which the NSA is legally forbidden from providing; this lead to some tensions with ISNU.
