On Wednesday, June 30, a little over a year after the launch of the award-winning, Pulitzer Prize-finalist podcast Somebody, host Shapearl Wells and Invisible Institute journalist Alison Flowers will reflect on the podcast’s impact and talk to a number of people who helped tell Shapearl and her son Courtney Copeland’s story.

The virtual event will be introduced by Intercept Editor-in-Chief Betsy Reed, with closing remarks from Topic Studios head Maria Zuckerman. At the end, we’ll share an exclusive preview of Topic Studios and The Intercept’s upcoming podcast American ISIS.

Somebody documents Shapearl Wells’s quest to find out what happened to her son, Courtney, who was found with a bullet in his back outside a Chicago police station in 2016 and died soon after.
