It is also believed that there are many Chinese scientists and technicians employed by the va~ious U.S~ Government agencies, the majority of whom are beiieved to be u.s~ citizens. lt is therefore suggested tha~ the Bureau consider the desirability of cont9-Gting other, :Government agencies which employ scientists anci teclmicians i:nt' fields interest to the .Chinese Co1D,ffiunists(such ~s Atomic Energy Commission, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, National Bureau of Standards, e_tc.) to determine the - identi t;y, background, security clearance, and scientific fields of all scientists and- technicians of Chinese descent empioyed by the$e agencies throughout the United States. lt is felt that due to the exploratory nature of such inquiries, and in order to prevent the other Government agencies from becoming unduly alarmed over ;he Bureau's• interest in their Chinese employees, that this inqui~y could best be handled on an agenC,y-or departmental level through Bureau liai~on. or - 2 -
