Donor Advised Funds (DAFs), IRA Distributions, and Retirement Plan Beneficiaries
DAF: To give through a Donor Advised Fund, direct your gift to The Intercept Media, Inc., tax ID 92-1198452.
IRA: If you’re 70½ or older, you can donate directly from your IRA to The Intercept through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) — up to $111,000 per year, tax-free. The gift doesn’t count as taxable income, and if you’re 73 or older, it can also satisfy some or all of your required minimum distribution (RMD).
Retirement Plans: Workplace retirement plans — 401(k), 403(b), 457 — don’t qualify for QCDs directly. If most of your retirement savings sits in one of these, you can first roll it into an IRA (a tax-free transfer), then make your QCD from the IRA. Ask your plan administrator about a direct trustee-to-trustee rollover.
Please ask your IRA custodian to send the gift directly to The Intercept, and be sure to include your name and address so we can send you a proper acknowledgment.

Bequest
Include The Intercept in your will or living trust. Suggested language for your attorney:
“I give, devise, and bequeath to The Intercept Media, Inc., a nonprofit organization located at 15 West 38th Street, #636, New York, NY 10018, Federal Tax ID 92-1198452, [the residue of my estate OR the sum of $____ OR ____% of my estate], to be used for its general purposes.”
Charitable Remainder Trust or Gift Annuity
Provide income to yourself or loved ones for a set period, with the remainder supporting The Intercept’s journalism. These require a trust or contract arrangement — we recommend consulting an estate planning attorney.
