Humaira Rahbin is an Afghanistan Observatory Scholar at New America. Rahbin currently works as a researcher at the Center for Information Resilience on its Afghan Witness project, which is focused on open-source human rights reporting from Afghanistan. Prior to joining CIR, she worked as a consultant for the Zinc Network in the United Kingdom. Previously, Rahbin worked with civil society organizations, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and the Dutch diplomatic mission in Afghanistan. Rahbin’s main area of expertise is research focused on women’s studies and migration. She has written for journals, newspapers, and other outlets, including the London School of Economics human rights blog.

Rahbin holds an M.A. in international relations from Kateb University in Afghanistan and an M.Phil. in public policy from the University of Cambridge. A Cambridge Trust scholar and alumna of Lucy Cavendish College, she is also a member of Chatham House’s Common Future Conversations platform.
