Rebecca Gordon, a TomDispatch regular, taught for many years in the philosophy department at the University of San Francisco. Now semi-retired from teaching, she continues to be an activist in her faculty union. She is the author of “Mainstreaming Torture,” “American Nuremberg: The U.S. Officials Who Should Stand Trial for Post-9/11 War Crimes,” and “Letters From Nicaragua.” Kate Rafael’s book “Waiting for the Wave,” forthcoming from AK Press, chronicles the long organizing life Rebecca has shared with her partner, Jan Adams.
