Field of Vision

Field of Vision is a filmmaker-driven documentary unit that will pair filmmakers with developing and ongoing stories around the globe. Across three seasons each year, we will commission and create 40-50 original episodic and individual short-form nonfiction films. Our first season will begin September 29, 2015.

Inspired by past projects such as World in Action and Life magazine, our films will include episodic series, thematic approaches to a single topic by multiple filmmakers, deep-dive investigations with writers, fast-responding filmmaker assignments and collaborations with artists across mediums.

Field of Vision is a collaboration with The Intercept and First Look Media.

We are commissioning short-form because it allows filmmakers to respond quickly, take creative risks, reach wide audiences, explore new ways of storytelling and communicate with a faster production cycle than is possible with long-form documentaries.

Field of Vision is a filmmaker-driven platform. We are committed to provide filmmakers both an outlet for this work as well as the support and the appropriate resources to create these films. Our films will be published online on the Field of Vision site at The Intercept and will be distributed through a variety of partners, including film festivals, streaming and cable.

We are incredibly excited to work with filmmakers to explore and experiment with nonfiction storytelling.
