In Tijuana schools, families with deported or undocumented parents give up educational opportunities in order to keep close to one another.

A 10-year-old migrant fleeing gang threats in El Salvador sits on the blankets her family uses in the absence of a bed in their rented home in Tapachula, Chiapas. The family applied for refugee status but were denied, so they don't have working papers. They hope to continue traveling to the U.S.
